Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
To whoever has an opinion/piece of advice.
So I've been lucky enough to get a full ride in a top 14 school but I also am on the waitlist for Harvard.
From my understanding, scholarships require that you withdraw your apps from other schools upon accepting the money. Do they actually check that?
I don't think it makes sense to turn down a full ride to be on a waitlist but if I don't have to choose I don't want to. Harvard is the dream. Does anyone know how it works

No this is not how it works. If you accept the admission offer at the school where you have a full tuition scholarship, you should withdraw your application at every school where you have been accepted. You may choose to remain on one or multiple waitlists.shaybaybayy wrote:To whoever has an opinion/piece of advice.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
Anyone else deferring for a year?
Or knows how long that process takes?
I just sent mine in a week ago.
Got a few PMs already so I'll list my timeline and strategy:
Submitted Jan 30th
Complete Feb 18th
JS1 Request March 11th
JS1 Interview March 18th
JS2 March 28th
Currently I'm working in PI. 2 year contract which runs through summer 2017. I actually sent an addendum to them in my application saying I'd defer if accepted, and during my JS2 they said they had no issue with it. I was just wondering how long the process takes if anyone already got approval from a previous year or is doing it this year.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
I haven't submitted a deferral (though I likely will) - in my conversations with them about the process they said that essentially all deferral requests with reason submitted before May 1st are approved and those after May 1 are considered on a case-by-case basis. They've been getting slower and slower with responses over the last few weeks though.

Timeline on fin aid offers, guys? I'm a week away from a scholarship deadline but don't want to bother them if they're moving quickly enough at this point.
ETA: Should probably post this on the other thread but I get confused. So...I'm going to double-post.

You should definitely bother them. I sent them my scholarship email with the deadline and had my financial aid letter the next day.sfoglia wrote:Timeline on fin aid offers, guys? I sent in a LOCI upon getting waitlisted. They never confirmed receipt. Should I assume they filed it or call to make sure?

Hi everyone!
First off, congratulations on all your admissions! This thread has been immensely helpful for me in gaining a lot of valuable insights into the admissions cycle as well as having a support group of sort through this application process.
I was recently waitlisted at Harvard, and I had a question that I am hoping one of you could help me with. For those that have earned an admission offer to Harvard, when is the institution's deadline deposit to commit?
Thank you so much in advance!

Hey question for you all deferrals out there. Do you know if I need to mail in the HLS deferred enrollment agreement and essay or can I just email it? Thanks!AriGold33 wrote:Deferral request granted as well! Only a two day turnaround

The admissions office said that email is totally fine. I signed mine on the pdf using an electronic signature, but I think a scanned/photo copy of the agreement should work as well.Remus wrote:Hey question for you all deferrals out there. It has been a privilege OPing this thread as we went through the cycle together. To mark the end, I've created one last poll. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and a fabulous 1L year!
