Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
One more question and I'm out of here for the day:
One of the previous posters mentioned that early submits could also be denied this late in the cycle, in some cases after those who applied late January. Do we know anything about the rationale behind this? If all they are is email waves, why not just do it all on one day? And are those waves predetermined? For example, is there a big pile of denials somewhere and they just do them in order of the stack? Or... does a wave like today happen and then they continue to debate over who's next?
Perhaps no one has the answers to any of this, but it would be interesting to hear theories.

I can't even imagine the feels I will have if/when I get a ding on the last day after waiting 6+ months.Four Winds wrote:Looking at LSN from last year, there were three final ding waves on 3/25, 3/26, and 3/27, which included early submitters who had been passed over in previous ding waves. (which I would be completely fine with.)
Early Jan submit.
I don't think anyone's safe with HLS until the decision email/JS2 comes in.

If it makes you retroactively feel any better, a couple years ago I found out I didn't get a Fulbright moments before I had to give a presentation at a conference. So if I seemed like I was smiling like a maniac, it was probably because that was the only thing keeping me from sobbing/strangling someone.

haha yes, actually the image of a maniacally smiling wolf with a nametag reading "middlebear" presenting at a conference does provide some consolationmiddlebear wrote:Ughhhhh. ya it's all good haha it came after 8pm EST and we'd joked that JS had just finished up dessert, turned to her tablemates, and said "soo forget rseaney, amirite??"

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I wish I had answers. My guess is that they circle back to older borderline applications every now and then once they get a good idea of the available numbers in the applicant pool. I'm thinking they've looked through all of the applications at least once (or maybe tomorrow's the last day).humph wrote:One more question and I'm out of here for the day:

I'm wondering how they prioritize between reviewing JS1 and JS1-less applications at this point in terms of rejections and waitlist (assuming new JS1s are done until the waitlist).

I'm just hoping I get JSWL at this point. JS2 seems like such a remote and unrealizable possibility.

For those having early/mid march JS1, chance to hear back next week? Or it is more likely for us to go through the wl-to-ad/rej process?
Looking at last year's LSN, it seems only rejections were given out before the huge ad/wl wave. sigh.

Strongly considering blocking myself from TLS and status checkers until next Friday. Might help to ease my nerves a bit.. or drive me insane when I change my mind and can't get back on.

JS1 invite! Looks like Tuesday may be the last day for JS1 interviews. Is anybody having trouble signing up for a slot?
Edit: Completion date was mid-late January. ~25% GPA, 50% LSAT.

If the stars align and we get into HLS, that's even better, but we're very lucky as it is.

My numbers aren't what I would call competitive at all!Kosmopol wrote:Good luck, humph.humph wrote:Congratulations to you! Send some JS1 vibes my way please.TLS2018 wrote:JS1 invite! Looks like Tuesday may be the last day for JS1 interviews. Is anybody having trouble signing up for a slot?
Edit: Completion date was mid-late January. ~25% GPA, 50% LSAT.I'm in the same boat. I think the best approach is to just assume that we're not going to get in. If you're competitive at Harvard, I imagine that you've already been admitted to some excellent schools, so celebrate that.

question: for JS1, is it still possible to be wait listed? or JS 1 only get admitted or rejected?

I don't understand... When they stop doing JS1s (which I'm assuming now?), why not send out rejects/WLs to everybody else?
Passed over 4 sure I guess.

Are we nearly certain that there will be one more JS2 wave before April 1? Also what interview dates are we looking at to potentially see admits?

Complete in November, no movement since. Hail-Mary numbers.
I know exactly how this goes-- they ignore me until the very last day, then either reject me outright or keep me on the waitlist and finally release me from my pain in like October.
And I paid them to do this...
