Wanted to ask again: do you bother to put HLS under Need Access and FAFSA if you haven't got in yet? Or do you re-do them if you do?

First disclaimer: I'm not an expert and I have no idea if it makes a difference. I put HLS under my needaccess even before I went under review at Harvard. But I am not sure if its necessary that you do so as Harvard has its own finaid application you are supposed to fill out after you get in. I am sure, at that point you can also do your need access. But if Harvard is one of your top choices, why not just put it on right now?


Btw congrats to all the admits! I get the honor of joining you guys !
And good luck to all those waiting! I think JR seems to be grouping people to call all at once for both JR1s and JR2s.

To be fair, we've beaten USC two of the last three years. In 2007, they were ranked #1 and we were 41-point underdogs, too. Both times in LA. Pretty awesome.

so a bunch of jr1 holds got jr2s.

Seems to me this spells the end for the rest of us JR1-->holds, or at least for those of us who had JR1s in 2009.

I am going to continue living in denial of our impending wait list/rejection letters and say that JR is looking at holds in reverse chronological order.

congrats to all the JR1-->hold admits! i must admit that i am very jealous. i hope if they've definitively decided to WL the rest of us, they'll e-mail us about it soon, so at least we can harbor a much smaller amount of hope each monday.

hopefully that's not true as there seem to be a bunch of pretty deserving jr1-hold still waiting. as a no jr1 hold I'm pretty curious to see if a significant number of us have received jr1s yet. Maybe this week he'll start going through our group.

There's still plenty of time for more JR1s for the no JR1 -> holds (and the no JR1s, no holds like me) in the next few weeks. There were a few batches of JR1s in the next week or so last year on LSN. I agree that the waitlist emails will probably happen in mid-April like last year.

Hey all, I've never posted on TLS before but just so there's some more info out there:

App complete: 11/24
Hold email: 1/19
JR1: 3/3 (which surprised me, I thought I was done-zo)
No phone call this Monday

How common is hold --> JR1 --> JR2? Is not hearing anything the Monday following the JR1 a kiss of death?

It's possible, but I got a JR2 yesterday and my status checker didn't update until today, so the change might just be for yesterday's admits. Some JR2s did go out on a Tuesday once a while back though, like in February or January, so hopefully there will be some more admits this afternoon!
