I have a friend going to NYU in my UG major for grad school, and she heard back forever ago. I told her I was considering NYU and applied, but luckily she hasn't asked me about it since because I'd be like "uhhhhh I haven't even heard back at all"

"We write to inform you that, to date, your application remains under review. The Committee takes a holistic approach to the review of applications. This requires an extraordinary amount of care, and thus a significant amount of time. The Committee follows an ongoing process of reviewing and rereviewing the vast majority of the applicant pool.

With this in mind, we hope you are reassured that the Committee is giving very careful consideration to your application. All applicants will receive a decision by the end of April, if not sooner. We thank you for your patience."

Just so people know: I've called NYU twice following my LOCI and both times I have been told that they are trying to finish before April but they may not finish until May.

I honestly thought she was saying this to calm my nerves, but now I think she was telling me some facet of the truth.

I also called on the glorious NYU email fuck-up day for a different matter. The woman who picked up was on the verge of tears from the sheer amount of phone calls... She has another one coming if they don't hurry up....

Yeah, the flip side is, you can waive both seat deposits if you commit though. I imagine that's a possibility at other schools too though.
