yes indeed. I imagine that there are a handful of spots left, for which they are conducting the final review process (which as we all know given Stanford's standards) may be lengthy.

So if I still haven't had anything change (no DLS, no call obviously), do most people think that is a good thing or a bad thing? The hopeful side of me is saying that means I'm right on the edge for an acceptance but the pessimist in me says they're more worried about other apps and will just WL/reject me when they get around to it.

we don't know, there are probably still at least a hundred applicants that haven't heard back.....

I just called for an update, and the lady I spoke with indicated that she didn't believe any further admission offers are coming. At this point, it's WL or ding.

so my original speculation was right. Everyone who hasn't heard back is just wating for waitlist or reject, and if it is the case they are unsure they even want to waitlist you... well chances are you're not getting off the list... its the same as a reject

lol seriously. i generally won't say anything about people online bc well come on, were generally a group of freaks and geeks but i think you might have some type of issue. most your comments are borderline neurotic; if not that then at least socially awkward. HTH.

Just called to verify. Admissions lady said at this point it is between waitlist and denies. She said there are extremely few offers of admissions going out, but the overwhelming majority would be WL or dings.

yea, there were always extremely few offers of admission based on how many people are applying. im sure its fewer now (5 admits out of however many people still UR, versus 15 out of every hundred who applied previously)

It just seems a bit odd... It's been over 6 months and they still cannot decide whether I am a waitlist or a reject?

Edit: Plus unless I go DLS today there's a chance the letter might not even get to me before the end of next week.

Yeah that's why I called. Maybe I've been DLS'd and she didn't want to break the news over the phone, but i'm still UR.

I suggest calling them and asking to verify too. It would be interesting if they looked at your file and gave you a diff answer.

Anyone else feel like the whining in this thread is getting out of control?

Seriously guys/gals, lighten up and let the black box that is Stanford admissions do its work. Rui's rules to LS admissions: if you're still in the running be happy, if you're waitlisted be cautiously optimistic and if you're rejected get excited about wherever else it is you'll be going.
