I was planning on starting to figure this out next week. We should get a TLS head count so we know who to expect to see/know on the first day!

We met by the booze and had a reference person (actually two) who are several feet taller than most humans. I suggest similar. Worked out great

For those familiar with the area: what's the best hotel to stay at for ASW considering I won't have a car (so, public transit + close to ASW happy hours for minimized stumbling distances)

For those familiar with the area: what's the best hotel to stay at for ASW considering I won't have a car (so, public transit + close to ASW happy hours for minimized stumbling distances)

Look for places immediately on the "Loop" (Delmar blvd) or CWE near forest park. That'll have metro link train access and be near bars. The moonrise has been recommended multiple years running. I've never been but I've heard it's cool and it's in a great location.

If you're looking for something on the cheap I'd suggest the red roof inn at forest park. Only about a $9 taxi ride from there to WUSTL. Also, I totally feelz about the rental car situation man, St Louis has some great rates for those 25+. This is grade-A age discrimination.

Edit: red roof worked well for some last year or year before. It was mentioned in the old taking Q's thread

I have stayed at the Sheraton a few times and really liked it. There is one that is about a mile away from Wash U. It isn't too expensive either. They discount you if you have triple A and it is completely pet friendly without a pet fee.

btw, helpful tip I just ran across in my search for hotels: most of the hotels around WUSTL/in CWE offer a free airport shuttle service
