Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Internet is hurtful and mean place. I guess what really bothers me is, you could let some politically incorrect statements stand, but no one ever does. Each inciting statement succeeds, regardless of original intention and an off topic debate about how wrong it is to post whatever ensues, clogging up my only semi-reliable news source for Harvard admissions or ruining my fun (see Ding Bar). So, yes, there are misogynists, homophobics, pedophiles, zoophiles, necrophiles and otherwise hurtful individuals on the internet. You just do not need to call out each and every one. Because some of these twisted individuals feed on your attention (tears?), and ignoring them is the only logical solution.

honestly we can't do anything about them switching the dean....all u can really do is change your prayer/hopes from JS1s/JS2s to KB1s/KB2s.....

So first you deny that there was any misogyny, and then when I point out specific examples you say we should just ignore it. Sorry, but words matter. Would we all be quite so sanguine about this if people were suggesting that a Dean shouldn't have gotten a job because of his or her race? These old canards--"you're being uptight; it's harmless; it's just a bit of fun"--are simple excuses for hate speech, and I don't think we ought to let them go unchallenged.Nulli Secundus wrote:Internet is hurtful and mean place. I think Philosophy Majors should exist as trick questions, when student declares Philosophy or similar, they should be booted out of education system.

The best part of those stats is pre-law coming in second to last.AntipodeanPhil wrote:http://www.phil.ufl.edu/ugrad/whatis/LSATtable.htmlNulli Secundus wrote:I think Philosophy Majors should exist as trick questions, when student declares Philosophy or similar, they should be booted out of education system.

Curiouscat, we love you. No need to apologize.curiouscat wrote:On this topic, I just want to say that I made a pretty self-entitled comment earlier on and I really regret that. I was already feeling edgy before I logged onto the forum because of sleep deprivation and some unrelated stuff that I was on my mind and I took out my frustration in my post. It was inappropriate and very far from the sort of thing that I would usually say. I've just been feeling really bad about it, so I wanted to put that out there and apologize.cerealdan wrote:Wow. There are some whiny and entitled misogynists in this thread.
Sometimes we say things and they are interpreted by others in an ignorant light... Ala my comment about HLS admissions hiring two people knowing well that they wont be able to fulfill responsibilities for an entire admissions cycle as being a careless decision. By including the fact for which they knew the two people could not fulfill the task made my remark misogynist?...No, it makes the ignorant reader guilty of presumptuous and most likely careless analysis.

Hey, I have a few questions for all the lucky admits out there..
I had my "JS1" interview 2 weeks ago. It went ok, but I felt that she seemed sort of . . . apathetic? since the interview only took ~6 mins and she seemed a bit disinterested in my replies and ended it rather abruptly.
Did anyone have a similar experience? And how long after the JS1 does it take to hear a decision? Thanks all!

Most people that are interviewed hear back within a couple of weeks, however there are others such as you and I that may not hear back for as long as a month. JS behaved the same way with me and that was from the very beginning as well, before I had even answered her questions. Best of luck and Go Ducks!

Mine was certainly quick too, though I didn't get an apathetic vibe so much as perhaps a rushed one. Think it was about 5 min before she asked if I had questions. She only asked two questions of me and no follow ups. Even when asking if I had questions she told me I didn't have to questions, but I asked a couple just cuz it seemed short. Anyway, she was nice. I think she was just in a rush given she called at the very end of the window she had given. I had my JS1 on a Friday and JS2 on Monday. Also I was a deadline applicant, got my complete e-mail the Thursday, same day as the JS1 e-mail, so I don't know if the waiting times are different for candidates who have been under review for a while or held. Hopefully this info helps somehow. Best of luck!goducks01 wrote:Hey, I have a few questions for all the lucky admits out there..

Similar to you two guys (same GPA but 168 LSAT) and submitted early Jan and went complete Feb 6th. Dunno how to interpret that silence.lawlcat4179 wrote:Sounds like we're twins. The above 3 posters:

To give you guys some perspective:
09 / 21: Applied
10 / 13: Under Review
10 / 27: Complete
02 / 08 / 2012: Held
Nothing since.

But what I meant (sorry if it wasn't clear is) I don't know how to interpret the TOTAL silence (no "hold", just nothing) ever since I follow this thread closely and I saw tons of people who applied after me (and went complete and UR after me as well) and who've been place on hold ever since.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
