Just got my mail and the G-Town package is there. Postmarked 1/28 and sent by priority mail. Nothing on the Columbia end.

For real. Got a Darrow at Michigan, hate New York. Would have maybe sucked it up if cost had been equal (my family is in CT, so that's a point in CLS's favor), but since I can go to Michigan for free AND I like it better, that wins.

Sounds like you got what you want with Michigan. Thanks for being a team player.

Mailman just came and went without leaving anything, bringing the official tally to SIX DAYS without a single piece of mail. Don't know how much longer I can take this...

I'm telling you. The USPS has a secret vendetta against law school applicants. It's so unfortunate considering the fact that we LOOOOOOVE their services at this time of year.

I actually finally DID get some mail today--something from NYU about their ASW, postmarked 1/28.

So, clearly I was not in the first batch of VCEs. Hope there's another batch coming this week!

With that said, those who got the VCE, was it just regular 1st class postage or was it priority mail? I'm attempting to gauge how much hope I should maintain.

Count me in. I firmly intend to do public interest, so it wouldn't be a tough choice for me. Of course, if Columbia wanted to up its PI percentage and lure me away with money...

I have this vague sense that the professors might be marginally better, although I can't really back that up specifically. Just a lot of the talk about the textbooks all being written by NYU profs got to me I think lol.

The student body seems more diverse - for example, I love the fact that a lot of people do PI, even though I personally probably won't do PI.

Part of it is definitely a personal thing - I went to NYU for UG, and I know how dynamic the school is overall. I'm sure Columbia is just as energized but...

The downtown aspect is also huge for me personally, as you mention. To me, downtown is New York. Morningside is very, insular and isolated feeling. It's not bad, it's just not me.

All in all, a whole lot of nothing to be sure, but since CLS and NYU are basically equal in the eyes of firms doing hiring, I'd see myself heading back down there?

Just wondering if it was a rankings/lay prestige thing for everyone picking CLS, or if there was something else.
