yup, all we can do and hope for at this point is to excel at whatever school we go to and that in 3 years things will be "better".longroad wrote: It seems when the economy is good, USF places better (duh). i think most schools are struggling right now with placement, outside of the 20 or so top schools. we picked a rough time to get into this profession i think. but as someone told me who is a current student at USF, this is going to be a long term investment. and i personally think it will pay off.

Anybody got off the waitlist recently? I wonder how long it will take for them to fill up the 30 spots...

Re: University of San Francisco
I hadn't received an initial decision from USF as of yesterday and thought it was a bit odd. I e-mailed them checking on the status of my application and they wrote back promptly apologizing for the delay and saying I had actually been admitted. I definitely would encourage anyone who hasn't received an initial decision to check in with the admissions office.

Those who are attending: When are you planning to look for housing? The housing email from last week had some pretty good resources, but it just seems too early to be looking since many of them are looking for tenants now. Anyone know how easy/hard it would be to get housing like in August?

Re: University of San Francisco
A friend of mine moved to SF to attend Hastings last year and was looking for an apartment because he didn't want to live in their small "dorms". There were vacancies throughout the city, however he said it was pretty difficult finding a suitable place for a good price. He ended up settling with what he got, disliked it, and is moving apartments after a year. He said there were places that were vacant for June and July but he didn't want to spend an extra month of rent...of course now he regrets it since he now needs to move his furniture, lost a part of his deposit at his old place, and needs to pay another one for his new apartment.
Hopefully this isn't the typical case. To be safe I think I'm going to begin a serious search in June. Probably going to check out complexes and get an idea of any possible openings for July/August.

Re: University of San Francisco
I would think it would be harder for us to get housing in August, but not impossible. I plan on looking for housing when I get back from my trip to NY in mid June. I will start seriously looking then. Ideally, I would like to have the place sometime in July, but I'm pretty sure I want a roommate to offset costs with me, so I would need one who wants to pay a little early too. I also have to find the roommate first lol. Seems one huge downfall of USF is the housing situation (price, availability, quality).lawman2010 wrote:Those who are attending: When are you planning to look for housing? Thanks for the replies. It's a little scary thinking I'll be in a place where I have to "settle" for a year and then find something later that is better. But I guess that's how it goes when you don't know the area well...

Re: University of San Francisco
sent an email asking about being considered for a scholarship, response i got can be pretty much summed up in the following bullet points:
- we're happy to use your highest LSAT for admission, but average for merit-scholarship consideration, which makes you SOL for moneyz, sucks to be you
- we will give you a 2nd year merit-schollie if you finish top 10 in your class
- if not top 10, have fun applying to all the various scholarships we have access to, maybe you will get one

Where are you guys getting this "30 spots" info from?km23 wrote:Wondering the same thing. According to this site and LSN, several got off last week but nothing really this week. Also, everyone on LSN who got WL/Accept withdrew. Hopefully there are more spots available. Good luck to all on the WL.stillwaiting1 wrote:Anybody got off the waitlist recently? An email was sent out from the director of admissions at the end of April explaining they would make "approximately 30 admissions offers" in May

I wonder how many of those 30 spots are PT. I'm starting to regret applying to PT after reading that people with stats very similar to my own have gotten in off WL through FT.

I've lived in SF for the past few years, so I can probably give you some advice on looking for housing. I could write on this for a while, so feel free to PM with questions and I'll do my best to answer 'em.
