PS. for those looking for bars close by campus... hamilton's is right across the street, peter's is up the road and garage door is around the corner. They also have higher class fare at fuel and fuddle (and a beer club card). There's also south side, which you can get to by hopping the 54C and stopping on carson... there are a SHITLOAD of bars there. Sigh. I miss pgh.
Just to correct....Hemingways is the place across the street. The perfect place for friday afternoon dart tournaments!
And Fuel & Fuddle has good pizzas.
Anyway Gretchy...I hope things work out for you!

Has anybody heard any news today? Or am I bound to not hear anything all week because the school is on spring break, which would thus make trying to call the office pointless?

I need more time to decide between Pitt and Wake or some other school I miraculously get accepted to so I sent in my seat deposit today. One step closer to being a Panther

Also, I will be visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday (to get a feel of the city) and Monday (to visit the school). If anyone has anything particular they want me to keep in mind so that I can report back here let me know

I actually didn't know about it? I was going to give them a call tomorrow to let them know I am going to be there on Monday so I am assuming I will be at that event

If you can take and post some pics, that would be nice.

Then I guess I will call tomorrow. I am not sure what to think at this point. I mean, we are fairly close to the time deposits are due, but I haven't heard anything. I know it's not uncommon for people to be under review for a long, long time, but I've been reviewed and rejected (and accepted, whew) in a matter of less than a week. Why Pitt is taking so long on me isn't clear, but I hope it's a good sign.

FYI for pantherfan and keemos....
check this page out first before doing this....
http://www.lsac.org/Applying/whom-to-admit.asp
I believe this is relatively new but some schools are now aware when students place multiple deposits... I dont think there is any list of defined repercussions but I have heard that this practice is VERY frowned upon by the schools. My advice is to be careful b/c you wouldnt want to lose your admission or scholly money because you pissed a school off... you never know how they may react...

I guess it's more of a prospective student event (from what the admissions rep told me on the phone), but it includes an info session, tour and class visit so I thought it could be useful.
In terms of what was said above regarding the multiple seat deposits, with different schools having their deposits due at different times, I'd personally find it hard to believe that anyone could be penalized for submitting one out of necessity in order to hold their spot. I hope I'm correct in that assumption.

I've got to believe that if a particular school had a problem with an admitted student making multiple seat deposits that they would explicitly warn against it in the acceptance info. Especially if there would be some penalty for doing so. I think the thing about multiple deposits is just a warning that says watch out for this if your school tells you not to and that link just said schools can find out if you do it, but not that something bad will happen.

My other deposits are due April 15th. By that time I will have either decided on Pitt or withdrawn from Pitt and deposited somewhere else. So I guess technically I will never have two deposits down at the same time.

Has anyone (other than those that requested it early) gotten their financial aid package yet?
I know they said they would be sending them out via email at ASD, but I was curious if anyone has actually gotten it. If so, did you get any extra cash? Maybe they are sending packages with cash out first...

I am still waiting to hear back. However, I applied pretty late- mid February. I really want to get into Pitt though!

via email, it was actually a pretty short email with no information about interest rates or anything like that. But that information is available elsewhere, and I'm sure there is more to come.

Aside from the latest issue of The New Yorker, I got nothing in the mail today. I think I might actually man up and call today. I've been in review for over a month, which isn't long, but considering other schools have processed, reviewed, and mostly rejected my applications in the same time span, I'm cautiously optimistic about Pitt.

Calling won't hurt your chances of admission, it's clearly important to you to know, call 'em. now.
