Wrote last week to have my app "expedited" but still nothing yet. A day after the email, my app complete date did change but that is all.

So this will probably be my final post on this thread, many thanks to all those people around here who sat with me waiting for my letter to come in the mail. In the end, I decided to attend Temple and they really turned out to be a classy bunch.

After receiving my letter I believed I was an out-of-stater (since I'm currently in VA) and they offered me no scholarship money. I sent them a letter to reconsider me for a scholarship and they generously offered me a Law Faculty scholarship worth $15,000 over three years and informed me that since I've been out of PA for school over the past 5 years, that I can still be considered a PA resident. So this has brought my law degree down from $70,000+ to approximately $38,000 provided I stay in the top-half of the class. Definitely not a bad deal considering that most people will be paying over $40k for one year of their degree at a T-14.

Say what you want about Temple, but I have no intention of ever leaving the Philadelphia area, so it's a great option for someone like me who's going part time and wants to stay in the region.

Best of luck to everyone else waiting and for those of you who've chosen Temple - Go Owls!

Like many of you I have not gotten any word since going complete in January (although they did just change mine to Complete 3/26, dont know what that means).

I'm planning on sending one full page letter explaining why I want to go (combonation of a certain program they have and study opportunities they offer that is somewhat unique) and bluntly stating that if accepted I would walk my seat deposite check over to them the very same day.

Should I send this via e-mail, or hand deliver the letter? I live 2 blocks from the admissions office.

Thanks yall!

edit: typo fix

I found out via status checker. I never went under review in status checker. This morning I was still complete, and at 2 I was accepted.

In via the Status Check too! Probably won't be able to make the thing on Friday, but there's a very high chance I'll be enrolling.

To those of you who received merit scholarships -- how were you notified?

No, really, it came in the acceptance packet.

Really thrilled to be joining this thread. Temple is my top choice since I'm a Philly resident. Unless I get The Call from Penn, which is very unlikely, I will be joining the class this fall. Couldn't care less now about Nova's or Drexel's decisions and nor do I care about Widener's full ride offer.

....But wouldn't that be exciting? I figured as much. I was just asking because there was nothing about $$ in my acceptance packet. I wasn't expecting any, just wanted to confirm that I won't be getting anything in the future. Thanks.

I figured this might be helpful in case anyone else has been trying to hunt down info on whether or not it's possible (or likely) to gain PA residency for tuition after 1L. Here's what I've found. I'd still likel to speak to a current student about what they have heard about the process though.

From the Admitted Student Website:

How can I be classified as a Pennsylvania resident?

The law school does not make residency determinations for tuition purposes. All residency determinations are made by the Residency Certification staff in the University Office of Academic Records. Generally, a student who comes to Pennsylvania primarily or solely for the purpose of pursuing his or her education will not be considered a Pennsylvania resident for tuition purposes. A student may challenge his or her non-resident classification by submitting a residency application to the University Office of Academic Records. Copies of the Resident Tuition Eligibility Guidelines and a Pennsylvania Residency Application are available from the Law School Admissions Office. Students considering a challenge to a non-resident classification should be aware that choosing to live in campus-related or university housing may raise a barrier to reclassification

ive been complete since around mid january..and then it updated to complete again on 3/19 and still no word. My numbers are below their medians but if they wanted to reject me wouldn't they have done so already? (maybe im just trying to rationalize some hope...)

I just talked to my mom and she was so excited that I would be so much closer to home if I went to Temple. I know I'm below the medians, but, I think money from Temple would really seal the deal for me. I tried asking for more money from Case, but, they already gave me something. Temple, I think, only let me in because I showed interest, so it doesn't seem like I'm in the best bargaining position.

Does anyone have any tips on how and where to begin looking for housing? I know there are lots of different neighborhoods in the area, and any input on them would be very appreciated. Thanks!! :)

Anyone else been at "complete" for 10+ weeks? I went complete on 1/19 and yesterday (exactly 10 weeks) called and asked for a status update and when I should expect a decision. The lady in the office said, yes, my file had been complete for 10 weeks but some applications take longer and that mine was ready to be reviewed.

Sounds to me like a waitlist without telling me it's a waitlist.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
