Re: Yale 2010
i have to admit that i liked getting grades in high school and college....not nearly enough to turn down YLS if i got in, though, which is really highly unlikely anyway

Hey guys, I received confirmation of receipt on 12/15/09. I never received an email about my application being complete though, as promised in the first email. I can't imagine it wouldn't be complete by now. Should I be worried?

I would email. It was probably an oversight on their part, but it's best to just get it cleared up.yobama wrote:Hey guys, I received confirmation of receipt on 12/15/09. Do they answer emails? I sent one in a couple days ago, no response. No phone answering eitherGeePee wrote:I would email. I think they get your emails, but for whatever reason they don't send back correspondence. It's frustrating but I don't think they auto-ignore their inbox.Kulax22 wrote:Do they answer emails? So do they actually take calls? I called and just get a canned message.GeePee wrote: I think they get your emails, but for whatever reason they don't send back correspondence. It's frustrating but I don't think they auto-ignore their inbox.

Re: Yale 2010
sorry if this is not a smart question. make any sense to apply to yale at this point? GPA just under 25th, LSAT above 75th.
i'm not sure i went about this cycle the right way. almost makes me want to give it another go next year. but i doubt that would be smart either.

It can't hurt, unless you'd rather wait a year and apply for the first time then with better stats. But my hunch is that if you haven't applied yet, you don't really want to or "need" to.GargamelITT wrote:sorry if this is not a smart question. make any sense to apply to yale at this point? +1. I suspect that the people in YLS Admissions might have the same hunch.Kulax22 wrote:It can't hurt, unless you'd rather wait a year and apply for the first time then with better stats. Re: Yale 2010
it is not too late to apply. YLS tries to give every application the same chance, regardless of submission time. Just get it in before the deadline. Your stats meet the bar, so you will be evaluated based on soft factors like the rest of the applicants. YLS is not as numbers-based once you get passed the initial screening.GargamelITT wrote:sorry if this is not a smart question. make any sense to apply to yale at this point? Has YLS rejected anyone yet? I'm curious if my stats have met the initial screening.

i wouldn't worry. i submitted on 11/24 and got the app complete email on 1/7. 6 weeks later.yobama wrote:Hey guys, I received confirmation of receipt on 12/15/09. I don't think that YLS rejects applicants until later in the cycle. They just go through many mini-waves of acceptances. Also, the stats required for initial screening aren't all that high, so I wouldn't worry (I'm proof of that).Kulax22 wrote:englawyer wrote:GargamelITT wrote:YLS is not as numbers-based once you get passed the initial screening.

Re: Yale 2010
agreed..if YLS really wanted to number-whore I am sure they could have a sick LSAT range. I would guess anyone above 170/3.8 is in the running.BioEBear2010 wrote:I don't think that YLS rejects applicants until later in the cycle. They just go through many mini-waves of acceptances. For example, last year there were 410 people who scored 175+ and applied to law school (82,000 applicants, 99.5% percentile). YLS class size is 190, with a yield of 75%. So it works out that they could probably have a 25th percentile LSAT of 175 if they wanted to (hmm that would be quite intimidating!) .

Haha, I just gave in and sent an extra LOR / LOCI to YLS. It'd be hilarious if I got a rejection in the mail the same day.

I had my recommender put it in a university envelope and sign over the seal. Then I signed the outside of the envelope, printed my name above my signature, and put my LSAC number below it. Put it in a manilla envelope with my LOCI (mentioned that I was enclosing the LOR as part of my LOCI) put my LSAC number and signature on the LOCI, send it all in.of Benito Cereno wrote:how did you send the LORVoidSix wrote:Haha, I just gave in and sent an extra LOR / LOCI to YLS. Also, the letter is dated January 27, and I'm a couple hours from New Haven.
