Just got back yesterday from a week in L.A. (looking at apartments and attending USC's ASD) to find a Irvine wait list letter in my mailbox. I'm sending the form back to take my name off the waitlist, but here's a blurb from the letter for those of you that are curious and waiting for info.
"As you know, we seek to matriculate an inaugural class of only 60 students. Between now and the start of classes in August of this year, we will be watching our admitted pool closely. If in that time frame a spot becomes available, we will offer that spot to an applicant on our waitlist. We will not be ranking applicants on the waitlist. This means that we are not able to predict for you how likely it is that you might be offered admission."
I was a 3.3/160 and sent my application in the last week of October.
Do you happen to know what date the letter arrived? Also, what state/city are you from? I'm curious to see the general distribution. It seems like most of the WL letters were sent out last Friday. Cali people received it on a Saturday I believe.

It's all good. I guess we'll have to settle with going to UCLA or USC instead.jibstir13 wrote:I didn't get a waitlist letter...and i live in irvine...

I live in Manhattan. I'm not sure what date it arrived since I was away but the postmark on the letter says 3/25.Do you happen to know what date the letter arrived? Dean Ortiz said they received 2,700 applications. Do law schools ever just not bother to respond to applicants? I mean, are they going to send out 2,640 rejection notices? Just out of curiosity.

Especially considering the cost of mailing 2600 rejections. I expect a mass email.scantronix wrote:Dean Ortiz said they received 2,700 applications. Do law schools ever just not bother to respond to applicants? I mean, are they going to send out 2,640 rejection notices? Just out of curiosity.

There had better be some exhaustive accounts and extensive pictorials on here after ASD, since I can't go

yeah, i was relatively optimistic until i read this. 60/2,700 = 2% chance. and didn't someone say they've already filled 30 spots? i wonder what the avg. lsat/gpas of applicants are. i have a 168/3.66 and i didn't send in my app 'til jan 15. ahh fml.

I believe a lot of T1 and T2 schools receive over 4000 applications each year...
Standard procedure is to send out a decision via snail-mail to each applicant...
UCI will probably do the same.

Re: In at UC Irvine
sorry sorry i'll stop bumping this up.
but i just found this: http://blawgirl.julieanneines.com/?p=248
apparently AT LEAST 83 have been accepted already to UCI. of those 83 (at least i hope i was correct in reading it as "of those" and not "besides those" 83) 21 have been admitted. they have submit their intent to register by April 15. that means there are precious few spots left, i guess.
*edit* haha. i guess it was a bit pointless to post this as this is stuff that was already on this board. my bad!

The facebook group is for admits who have already confirmed. There is also a google group for all admits. I'm sure there will be some extensive accounts/pictures on both.naivekid1986 wrote:http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group ... 9994689337
