I don't think I would do it *this* early, but it might at some point be helpful to update Columbia with your admissions. I had the opposite problem (well, not with Columbia)... I wanted to go to Stanford and they still hadn't given me a decision by April 17th (I submitted my app early jan), so I sent them an update saying "Hey, I got into Yale and Harvard, but I really want to go to Stanford..."* and got my call the next day.pigzorz wrote:I got into Stanford a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything from Columbia despite interviewing over 2 months ago...YMMVNecho2 wrote:If a specific data point will make you feel better, I got into Stanford very early and have received zero named scholarship love from Columbia. Thanks quads, this is good advicequadsbaby wrote:I don't think I would do it *this* early, but it might at some point be helpful to update Columbia with your admissions. *Note, obviously don't misrepresent your intentions. I did really want to go to Stanford.
Yeah, I don't think I'd choose Columbia over my other options, so I wouldn't do that. But it is sort of curious. Interesting result on your end, though.quadsbaby wrote:I don't think I would do it *this* early, but it might at some point be helpful to update Columbia with your admissions. I'm going to call Stanford and bluff.pigzorz wrote:Yeah, I don't think I'd choose Columbia over my other options, so I wouldn't do that. But it is sort of curious. Same situation, except no interview for Columbia. Columbia is the only school I'm waiting on (besides Yale, but I only sent that in Jan.). A lot of people in CLS are in same position, albeit with H instead of S.pigzorz wrote:

It's a bold strategy Cotton...ProductofUnreality wrote:I'm going to call Stanford and bluff.pigzorz wrote:Yeah, I don't think I'd choose Columbia over my other options, so I wouldn't do that. Did some LSN stalking last night--last year Stanford offered admission to December applicants the 3rd week of February.philawsopher wrote:So, all crickets this week from Stanford, except for a little movement on Monday?
Here's hoping that we get a nice big wave of acceptances next week!

As far as i'm aware it means Decision Letter Sent, and if you haven't heard anything (i.e got the call), its a ding.gamerish wrote:What does DLS mean in this context?

And I think you can give them a call and they will tell you for sure.Draconem wrote:Waitlist/denial.gamerish wrote:What does DLS mean in this context?
If you get DLS without call/email, it means you are getting a letter in the mail with the denial or waitlist.

Noooooooooo. My condolences, and hopefully you guys already have other great options to choose fromgobears!! wrote:DLS--complete 10/1. Was expected. Good luck y'all.
Fairly certain this is the first wave of dings on this thread so far (unless I missed something). Judging by lack of further movement in this thread/no spreadsheet updates/nothing on LSN, I sincerely hope we are safe for now; then again it's only 2 p.m. in Palo Alto right now...Timantha wrote:worldhunter wrote:DLS - not terribly surprised.

Is this the first time that Stanford has dinged/waitlisted people? Sorry, I haven't followed this thread too closely. Will they send out more DLS today or are we safe for now?
It has begunSpikeSeagull wrote:Fairly certain this is the first wave of dings on this thread so far (unless I missed something). LOL guess I am doomed. My submit/complete date was in September.clarf wrote:I'm thinking this week is make or break for me. Applied around 11/18, went complete 11/20. According to LSN, people that were accepted with my submit date heard back this week. Those who didn't were, at best, wait-listed or denied in the following weeks.
Here's hoping!
Don't give up hope until your status checker says DLS! Just think of every day passing without a rejection as a sweet sweet blessing from the Stanford adcomms.slippin_jimmy wrote:LOL guess I am doomed.
