Are BU's and BC's scholarships awarded after the completion of need based forms like Fafsa and etc.? If so, how hard is the March 1st deadline for BU's fafsa completion date? I ask, because I have been admitted late Jan. - Early Feb to both BU and BC, but have not heard back concerning scholarships and have not filed the need based forms because I believed I would not receive financial aid and other schools ranked higher that I were admitted to offered me scholarships without having to file need based forms like fafsa.

BU doesn't require the forms for merit based aid. Only for need based aid. AFAIK

Would love to hear any successes or experience too. I was under the impression they will reexamine after need based aid is doled out.
that's very interesting, where did you hear this?

I was just reading about need-based aid on their site and it seems like there is no deadline to apply. Do you guys know how long it'd take to hear back if I send everything in asap? I have to make a deposit by April 1st at another school and I really didn't want to double deposit.

Edit: Oh I guess the deadline for need-based aid was March 1st? Does that also apply to people admitted after the deadline?

In regards to need-based aid and merit-based aid... I applied for admission in November, got my acceptance at beginning of January. Hadn't heard back in regards to scholarships, so I sent in my need-based aid forms middle of February. I talked to the director of financial aid and she said that they are trying to get everything out before deposits are due because they know money plays a big role in what schools people choose. I'll keep you guys posted if there is any movement on my front -- haven't heard anything yet. Kind of ridiculous imo

I read here that the march 1st deadline is just a priority deadline. anyone accepted recently/in the future should definitely still fill out NeedAccess if you're hoping for need-based aid.

If you are coming from over 300 miles away they will provide a stipend of up to $300. You just have to email Christine Carr, the associate director of admissions.

Has anyone been rejected that would be willing to share what their letter said?

Anyone going to the Admitted Student Preview Day on March 20? I'll be out there that week and would love to grab a drink while I'm visiting. Gonna be with my boyfriend. Totally down to meet my future classmates :)

I'll be there, not convinced I'm matriculating yet, but am definitely interested in getting a handful of people together to go drink

I think BU does not want me. Got accepted back around the first week of Feb, but still have not heard back about any scholarship. Hopefully the mail they sent on the 13th of this month is a scholarship letter.

I'm convinced of the same! And I was accepted first week of January!! They're doing themselves a diservice... BU was my #1 but ive gotten a full ride to a similarly ranked school and BU's tardiness is not helping their case lol hopefully we are outliers and not everyone has been waiting like we have (in fact it's clear many people recently accepted got that info with their acceptance).

You're automatically considered for merit, got mine with no additional work on my end. No need based info has come out yet, though.

Same here. I called 2 weeks ago and they said that applicants who went complete in mid-late january were in the "next batch" of applicants to be reviewed/have decisions rendered on. Should be soon!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
