LSN doesn't necessarily capture everything though. Based on numbers alone I'm sure people think that I've lied or inflated numbers, but there's a lot of other stuff going on in my background that you wouldn't know from my LSN. Not sure how common that is, but I think in the case of splitters and non-traditional applicants, it can be difficult to judge. I guess that supports the "take it with a grain of salt" view, but I also wouldn't discard things too quickly.A.Taarabt7 wrote: I talked to admissions and they said they do pull students off the regular waitlist. So I don't think its slim, especially with the way this cycle and past cycles are going. Be wary of LSN. A lot of people don't update it, or they inflate their scholarship amounts, or may outright lie with some schools they are accepted or waitlisted at. Why? not sure. For example, I looked at one school I was waitlisted at(not Emory), and someone with the exact same credentials was accepted into the school with a 128k scholarship. individual is a caucasian male, nothing extraordinary about his background. Normal background like mine yet he gets a near fullride with the same stats as me. Thats why I am a little suspicious of LSN.

Did the tuition for next year just go up or was I just looking at the wrong info before??
I could have sworn I recently saw sticker tuition listed at 48K or just about there, but I just looked on their website and tuition for 2015-2016 is listed at $50,900. http://law.emory.edu/admission/tuition- ... l-aid.html

I'm pretty sure that $50,900 is what they said at ASW

I didn't make it to ASW. So whatever I got before, I think I got out of my binder from my acceptance package.keekztresq wrote:Marie1976 wrote:Did the tuition for next year just go up or was I just looking at the wrong info before??

Hm. Maybe what was in your acceptance package was last year's tuition, before they decided on 2015-2016 tuition? I'm not sure I'm just guessing here, but I definitely remember them saying at ASW that it was over 50kMarie1976 wrote:I didn't make it to ASW. Thanks. I'm trying to decide between BYU and Emory and BYU is cheaper, but my husband would prefer to leave Utah. Trying to rank the pros and cons.NoBladesNoBows wrote:I don't think there's any way to say for sure, but this should help give you an idea: http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/ ... osts/2013/Marie1976 wrote:Do y'all know how much the tuition goes up each year? like how much we can expect to pay 2nd and 3rd years

Good academic standing = 2.25. If memory serves, no one list a scholarship last year.

For those who have emailed with the Dean, how long did it take for you to get a response?

Less than 24 hours. He was nice, but seemed very unwilling to negotiateMarie1976 wrote:For those who have emailed with the Dean, how long did it take for you to get a response?

Yeah I actually wasn't emailing about the scholarship. Just had some questions about some programs at the school. I emailed a couple days ago but I emailed the jdadmissions email, not his personal email.keekztresq wrote:Less than 24 hours. Email his personal address--when I did he responded in a few minutes.Marie1976 wrote: Yeah I actually wasn't emailing about the scholarship. Just had some questions about some programs at the school. I emailed a couple days ago but I emailed the jdadmissions email, not his personal email.

it seems like this Friday is the last day to visit the school. Anyone else on the waitlist planning on being there?

Has anyone else who was waiting to hear their scholarship amount heard anything yet? I know it's been less than a day since the first deposit deadline passed, but I am anxious!

Just curious, did you submit a LOCI? I'm on the priority waitlist as well, and have not send one in yet.

I did not. From what I gathered at the Explore Emory event, a LOCI would not be particularly helpful and could even potentially hurt you if it's not very well done. When asked about it, the dean of admissions did not seem very high on it. What he expressed is that if you're on the waitlist, your file is already very good and that they will be making decisions based on gaps that need filling.
So just personally, I would not send them a LOCI. That is just me going off of the reaction he had when asked the question. It was kind of a 'ehhhh' response.
