I know I've seen this answer before but it's only some people who get interviews, correct? And if so, is there any consensus on who these people are?

This is the best explanation I've seen:w0w wrote:I know I've seen this answer before but it's only some people who get interviews, correct? And if so, is there any consensus on who these people are?
xylocarp wrote: last year, lots of people were admitted without interviewing. that's probably the case this year too. there's a lot of speculation about what the interviews mean/who's chosen, and we don't know for sure, but it seems to be a combination of interviewing borderline candidates, borderline named scholarship candidates, and probably just some people for whom they want to clarify some things. I think in general it's probably a neutral or good thing, but definitely not the cause for excitement that say, getting a JS1 is.

I believe the first RD was 1/27. So if we're going by last year's timeline, we still have at least a week to go...Mack.Hambleton wrote:When was first acceptance last year?

well according to their website..ChiefMango wrote:Does Columbia interview everyone that they admit?
"You should not be concerned if you are not invited to interview with a member of the Admissions Committee. It is important to keep in mind that we are only interviewing a small number of candidates relative to the size of our applicant pool. In no way does an interview invitation imply or guarantee admission. Similarly, a favorable decision nonetheless may be rendered even if you are not invited to interview."

Has everyone's interviewer been giving an indication of a timeline? Either "within the next two weeks" or sooner rather than later"? My interviewer gave no such indication, and it was a tad concerning.

Mine gave no indication either. I think it just depends on the interviewer/how the conversation wentase0624 wrote:Has everyone's interviewer been giving an indication of a timeline?
