Wow that's a little rude... It has nothing to do with being upset that "my star doesn't shine bright enough," but I am a little miffed that although I was more than good enough for schools ranked the same or higher I was waitlisted by Vandy. I currently work in the music industry and even included a supplementary essay on why I thought Nashville and Vanderbilt would be a good fit considering my interest in pursuing entertainment law, artist management, and booking (I work with people who do this now and many have noted how helpful it is to have a J.D.). I thought I made my interest in Vanderbilt come across clear and sincere and with my LSAT above 75th I was not expecting a wl although my GPA was below median. I thought it came across as a bit snotty (just like you). You and Vanderbilt can have each other and I'll take my ass to greener pastures. Jerk.

Sorry, I thought that comment came off as a little insensitive too. If you're in the music industry, I HIGHLY recommend moving to Austin. We don't have the same kind of industry Nashville has, but it may help you "stay in the loop." If you have w/e in Nashville, I'm sure someone you know can help hook you up out here. My husband is a musician, so I completely understand the need to be somewhere where the music scene is happening. Good luck to you!

Don't get too offended. This is a law school forum after all. You have great options, and you still have a shot at Vanderbilt.

If you're still interested, write a LOCI and bug the hell out of them. They'll get the message. If/when they admit you, show them competing scholarships from peer schools and they'll probably match. From what I've seen, they're much more likely to negotiate with WL people than with regular admits.

Checked the status checker today and said decision mailed on 1/13. Was in the process of setting up FedEx delivery manager when the doorbell rang.

In with the letter dated 1/13

Edit: Forgot to include this: I decided to apply after Dec 1 so I did not interview. 25>GPA>50, 168 LSAT

Been sitting on complete for almost 2 weeks now. I know thats not terribly long, but checking every hour for an update is getting annoying

got the fedex package! It was sent 1/6 (but I live on another continent so it took awhile ). Interviewed mid-Dec and submitted around x-mas.

Just do set up your delivery manager to text you and check whenever waves post on TLS.

Unfortunately I put my law school mailing address as my university address, and i dont thin fed ex delivery will track non residential addresses.

You were worse than half their admits in one of the two most important metrics for deciding if they'll extend you an offer and still made the WL. It's ridiculous to be "offended", especially when you mentioned your great options. Also, JD for booking?

So I was admitted around 2 weeks ago. GPA < 25% LSAT > 75%. They said schollie info will be coming out in February? Can I do anything besides wait around? I'm pretty sure I won't qualify for financial aid, just merit based.

Ohhhh and I just realized that the deadline for the Law Scholars application form was January 10...

Does anyone have experience with this/think it's worthwhile to fill one out anyway? I really am interested in Vanderbilt and significantly above 75ths, so I feel like I would've had some kind of a chance at one of these.

EDIT: OHHHH I'm dumb. And lucky! Just read in one of their emails that the deadline has been extended to January 16th, so if anyone has their head in the clouds like me, you still have a shot lol.

FYI my school has boxes but not PO boxes and I got my package. So just because your school address has a box number, doesn't mean it's a PO box.

The PO Box thing is a postal service rule. The Post Office will not put anything but US mail in a PO Box (PO Box = at the post office). If you have a box at a college (or in a UPS store or something) then the box is not a PO box and the rule does not apply.
