Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I submitted my application with BD on 11/10 & it became complete on 11/11 according to the status update but I haven't heard ANYTHING!! Should I brace myself for the dreaded denial..?

Thank you SO much! BD has a 15 day turnaround which is why I was stressing over the timeline but never the less, thank you for reassurancepsychmusic wrote:No you should not. It took me longer than that to hear back, and while I was worried the whole time it turned out just fine. They are unlikely to straight up deny you so early on, and 11 days is really not a significant wait at allNmZ wrote:I submitted my application with BD on 11/10 & it became complete on 11/11 according to the status update but I haven't heard ANYTHING!! I notice that the most recent incoming class is 64% male. Is this a case of women self-selecting out of UVA due to this sort of very negative reputation? Or is the negative/destructive culture described within the article unique to the underaged, undergrad population? Thanks for posting, this has definitely changed my perception of UVA

That's interesting. I would imagine that not many people knew about this before the article. However, as a law student I don't plan oh hitting a bunch of frat parties or going on dates with anyone as I will be married at the time. So I would imagine my chances of being sexually assaulted at UVA would be about equal to any other school since this article makes it seem as if the culture is mostly perpetuated though the frats. However I would prefer to be somewhere that would offer more support if it did happen and I also would think twice about selecting a school where I would be paying real money to a system that handles these situations this way.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:I notice that the most recent incoming class is 64% male. interview is totally chill. they will likely ask you about your best/worst days of your life, your plans for after law school, and maybe a couple resume items. Have some decent questions prepared to show interest.

Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Hey guys-- congratulations to everyone who's been accepted so far. Question for you: I submitted my application around October 24th and received an email from the admissions office confirming that they'd received my application. Since then, it's just been radio silence-- the status checker doesn't even list my application as being complete yet and the requirements list is still blank. Any insight? I know UVa is a bit of a reach for me (I'm 3.7 with a 167, 3 years of work experience as a legal assistant and then pro bono coordinator at a top firm in NYC), but it seems strange that it hasn't even gone complete yet. Should I be bracing myself for the worst?

I'm the same date, but I am complete. I feel like UVA has been quiet the last few weeks, so I'm not too worried but you might email and make sure they received everything they needed.vdh2102 wrote:Hey guys-- congratulations to everyone who's been accepted so far. Note that the UVA status checker doesn't tell you what your status is in the 'status' box, but instead the top of the page, in the text blurb. Mine says "We have received your application, and because we have received all the necessary components, it will move forward to the review process. Aha! OK, now I kind of feel like an idiot, but my page does say that, so I guess it is actually complete. Thanks for the tip.hereisonehand wrote:Note that the UVA status checker doesn't tell you what your status is in the 'status' box, but instead the top of the page, in the text blurb. Yeah but apparently they're just banned until January. Seems like they're just doing it to get the media off their back.james.bungles wrote:glad theyre actually doing somethingvalen wrote:Follow-up to the Rolling Stones UVA rape article posted above:

I applied BED on November 3rd and I still haven't heard back (today is November 24th). I received confirmation of my app and a BED receipt on the 3rd. Should I be worried?

Hey guys, was just admitted! Super excited as UVA was my top choice. Does anyone know when we can expect scholarship info to come out? Does that usually come much later for UVA admitted students? Looking through this thread, the people who were admitted with full scholarships were told at the time of their acceptance notice, but what about for everyone else?

Congrats! Out of curiosity, when did you apply/go complete and what were your numbers? (Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can chime in with an answer to your question!)hypebeast wrote:Hey guys, was just admitted! Super excited as UVA was my top choice. I got an interview request with J. Black today, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the interview process? Also does anyone know if they have a preference for phone vs. Skype? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth it to get to a place where I could do a Skype interview.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like any scholarship info has gone out except for Dillards.hypebeast wrote:Hey guys, was just admitted! Super excited as UVA was my top choice.
