Like the above posters, had a 12/15 deadline on the Why Texas? but they dinged me a few days early anyway. Might be best to churn yours out immediately after getting the request if you're OOS and actually want to attend.

Good luck all.
People getting dinged before the 12/15 deadline who haven't submitted their Why Texas? statements seems really odd to me, I would e-mail them and ask about it if they're high on your list!
Sounds like an administrative error.
I emailed them already and highlighted that (while being very gracious about the rejection), will update if admissions is able to shed any light on the subject. In all honesty UT would've need a monster aid package to get me in the door and that was not likely, so not worried about the ding at all. Just passing along the info. :P

Thank you for doing that! I'm at the "wishful dreaming" stage right now, so I hope it was an administrative error. UT is one of my top choices, I live in TX currently and love it!

I submitted on 12/1 and got my EID on 12/4, but no change on the site.

From LSN, it doesn't look like any other apps submitted near me have been marked 'complete' yet but it's also a tiny sample.

Thoughts?
Shameless self-bump.

Anyone else experiencing this extended wait until app even being acknowledged through the Status Check? I also blanketed T14 and all other schools went 'complete' within two days.
UT status checker is largely useless, I wouldn't worry about it

Thanks for the reply...that is definitely relieving! I am truly awful at the waiting game and am extremely talented at psyching myself out on this stuff.
It took a little over 12 months for one school to ultimately reject me (was wait listed 4 months after applying, then sat on the wait list for 8 months after that).

It's a long process, just relax and have a brew dog (or, like, hundreds)

Dean Ingram just sent out an e-mail saying that the saturday dings were an administrative error and asked for permission to do an "informal request for reconsideration"

Got one from her as well.

The email I got also advised that I had been "administratively denied prior to the response date" and offered an expedited informal reconsideration because of the error.
Not an error here as much as a false start, sounds like. Just need to send in a Why Texas? by the response date to be reconsidered... deadline being tonight.

No way will an admit fly after this, but I wrote the damned thing after they asked so the least they can do is read it prior to snuffing my application.

My email says "your additional statement has been added to your package." I think our apps were put in the non-Why UT? pile.

Hi folks,

TLS newb here. I always find out about this stuff after the fact. Found this forum today when I googled an Austin, TX phone number I had a missed call from and realized it was Dean Ingram calling to let me know I'm in!

I'm still processing it - I only applied last Monday night, 12/8. Definitely wasn't expecting to hear anything until at least mid-Jan, after the holidays. Not sure if it means anything especially good? They invited me to apply and waived my fee but figured they do that for a lot of people.

I applied 12/1 and got in 12/16 last year. They can be pretty fast in some circumstances.

Yeah they got something mixed up for sure. Good luck to the rest of you cats stuck in the premature reject pile. :P

Congrats Arose. Mind sharing some generic stats like URM, percentiles, residency, all that good stuff?

Thanks!

Not URM. Not in-state. Not sure about percentiles? 167 LSAT, 3.6 GPA. Went to Rice, not sure if that matters or counts for anything extra. Have been working for 5 years.

Just accepted via phone call! I was part of the 12/13 "administratively denied" applicants, so there is hope!

When did you go complete/ what are your stats compared to the 25/50/75th percentiles? If you don't mind me asking.

Just accepted by phone call. LSAT 75th GPA > 50%. Applied before Halloween and submitted Why Texas last week.
