Just got held too. Beats a rejection or waitlist though, I suppose.

Held as well. Knew it was gonna happen so not bummed at all. Hopefully in RD the fact that I applied ED shows that I'm committed to NW.

Held as well. But on the bright side, I'm so poor a combination of need/merit could work wonders for me! Heh.

I'd imagine it's better for YP purposes because it shows clear interest in the school, but I have no data to back up my theory.quick_silver wrote:Out of curiosity, any stats on the outcomes for people who are rolled over to RD from ED? It's better than being waitlisted/rejected outright, do they have a higher acceptance rate than those who go RD off the bat?

I got held last cycle. It is a grueling process and I didn't even get in. Godspeed.lane wrote:Just got held too. Beats a rejection or waitlist though, I suppose.

Elaborate on the "grueling process"? It seemed rather straightforward.rion91 wrote:I got held last cycle. It is a grueling process and I didn't even get in. Godspeed.lane wrote:Just got held too. Beats a rejection or waitlist though, I suppose.

Held as well. 166/3.68, so it beats an outright rejection.

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Ill chime in, if you dont mind. I applied last cycle, was held. NU creates a portfolio for all those held and invites those people to submit optional hold essays (4 different prompts, IIRC) and you can submit as many or as few as you want. I considered them as quasi-LOCIs. However I don't think there wasnt much of a pattern to those whom NU decided to admit eventually. Several of those who did 4 eventually got put on the summer waiting list, while few of those who did none got in (had more competitive numbers, probably.) I was eventally put on the summer waiting list, which functioned like the waiting list at other schools.Irish11 wrote:Elaborate on the "grueling process"? I was put on hold early March, and on the waitlist mid-May. Depending on how you look at it, it could be considered gruelling....or not.

Well, writing all 4 essays, following up with 2 loci, and traveling to NU for the interview was grueling for me. I really want NU if you can't tell lolIrish11 wrote:Elaborate on the "grueling process"? It seemed rather straightforward.rion91 wrote:I got held last cycle. Thanks for the description. Seems like it would be different for ED holds than RD holds, though, right? Less a "Your numbers are only borderline competitive so let's see how this plays out" and more "We can't give out $150k to 200 people."

I'm guessing this isn't what we are going to have to do. This would be utterly ridiculous given that people held from ED NU probably have the numbers to get into other T14s outright. Nobody is going to jump through that many hoops to sit on the NU waitlist and have to fight for the $ left over if/when admitted off the waitlist.

Held to RD. 2.5 GPA, 172 LSAT. Was honestly expecting a ding or WL so I'm not too bummed about this.

you're probably right. looking through c/o 2017 thread, there was movement for ed holds in January.Irish11 wrote:
