Re: Held at Northwestern c/o 2017
Fuck. Summer Waitlist. Wow. Horrendous:
I am writing to let you know that our Admissions Committee has placed your application on the summer waiting
list.
We use the waiting list to fill openings in our entering class. Therefore, the offers we extend often depend on the
spots that become available. Because the waiting list is not ranked, I cannot fairly provide you with an estimate
of your chances for admission. However, I can tell you that we have admitted approximately 20%-25% of the
candidates on the waiting list during recent years. We offer admission to candidates on the waiting list throughout
the summer months and, in some years, have extended offers of admission as late as the first day of classes. If you
wish to remain under consideration, please complete the online Waitlist Response Form by Friday June 4th,
2014.
If you have not already done so, you may wish to submit via email to admissions@law.northwestern.edu a
statement that indicates your level of interest in Northwestern. As the new academic year approaches and time
becomes a greater constraint, we must offer admission to candidates who have clearly indicated that Northwestern
is their top choice for law school.
Please note that applicants who are admitted from the waiting list typically receive financial aid in the form of
loans rather than grants. Although grants are generally not available, all admitted candidates can apply for
low-interest federal and institutional loans to cover all educational expenses, including tuition, room and board, and
all living expenses less any outside resources (i.e., outside scholarships, gift money, etc.).
We appreciate your patience during this uncertain time of year. In the meantime, if you have any questions please
feel free to contact us. Thank you for your continued interest in Northwestern!
Sincerely,
Johann H. Lee
Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
They accepted people who they knew were already going to better places with high numbers. And they WL'ed everyone else. That girl who told me they weren't accepting anyone back in April (during my tour) was right. I'm so glad I wasted hours and hours writing letters, requesting LORs and spending money flying out to Chicago when there was never a chance. Fantastic.

WL.
And if the letter is to be trusted, there's no possibility of grants off the summer waitlist. This is where I depart.

I'm honestly wondering why those hold essays were even a thing if it's purely numbers based?luuma wrote:Fuck. Summer Waitlist. Wow. Horrendous.

Waitlist sucks but since day one, I've wanted NU and nobody else.
I am waitlisted for two other schools...my parents want me to try getting in there but I don't want to.
I will wait till the end of the Earth lol Letting my faith strengthen me through all this.
I wish everyone well with whatever they choose to do!!!

Me. I'm gonna head to Chicago in July. My corps program starts in August. If I get in to NU, I will accept.
If I get accepted to the two other schools I'm on waitlist, I will reject.
Northwestern is it for me.

If they've accepted candidates they knew would leave for higher schools, then there's probably a large migration from the lower T14 into CCN coming. You've made it this far — hang in there, everyone. Especially if you have borderline numbers.

I am writing to update you on the waiting list. Due to a high number of acceptances of our offers of admission, it is now clear that we are unable to include you within this year’s class.
Thank you for your interest in Northwestern Law. Please accept our best wishes for your continued success with both your future academic and professional endeavors.
Sincerely,
J

I would have attended NU if I had been accepted. It was my first choice going into this cycle but after the Hold, it was an easy decision to follow my wife to the East Coast.

Re: Held at Northwestern c/o 2017
If thinking that way makes you feel better about your situation, then carry on. But I won't allow that to be projected onto me. I believe Northwestern is the school for me and I will continue to do my best to receive an acceptance. And if I don't, I know that God wants it a different year. Sorry about your feelings concerning everything. Hope you feel betterfivestarfolds wrote:enjoy crying yourself to sleep until the beginning of September. Application cycles can be weird. I'm waitlisted at Columbia and NYU but got straight rejections from UVA and Duke, which were honestly my top two choices due to location. Go figure.d cooper wrote:Work experience? Late application? Good being here with y'all but I think it's time for me to dip out this thread. A lot of negativity and I really don't want to be around that.
