Re: Emory Class of 2017 (2013-2014 Cycle)
So today I got an email about a travel cost reimbursement and an 'admitted students update.' It's news to me that I was admitted... Did my spam filter kill my acceptance email from Emory, is it in the mail, or did I misinterpret this email entirely?

I got an email talking to me about my acceptance without noticing I was accepted either. I'm guessing that my acceptance letter is in the mail. Or I'm hoping so at least. I mean, it said "congratulations again on your acceptance" and then continued talking about other things so I think I'm in... Then again, I did request to join the admitted students FB group on Friday and still haven't been let in...shortgiraffes wrote:So today I got an email about a travel cost reimbursement and an 'admitted students update.' SAME here! I wrote back saying I hadn't received a letter, and hoping the email wasn't sent in error.njdevils2626 wrote:I got an email talking to me about my acceptance without noticing I was accepted either. Update: Dean Rosenzweig very promptly (within 15 minutes) responded with an electronic copy of my acceptance letter. I'm in!

Deposit Reimbursement – Because our deposit deadline falls on April 15, we will reimburse your non-refundable deposit to one other school (up to $500) whose deadline is before our deposit date. if you matriculate with us this fall. The reimbursement will occur as a credit to your student account. Please contact me for more details.

If you got that e-mail I think it's fair to assume you got in. Congratulations. See you all on Friday night at Emory Conference Center (the hotel where we have one free night). I did a personal visit and the hotel is awesome. For all of you still on the fence about Emory I would strongly advise you to at least come to Admitted Students Day. You will most likely fall in love with the school and want to commit.

How do I get the hotel for free? Looks like you still get charged the way I'm seeing it...

You have to put in your credit card info and order it. This is to make sure that you don't no show and also to have a card on file just in case you damage the room, get room service, etc. But if you sign up to stay on April 4th you will be reimbursed/ have nothing charged to your credit card.

I was particularly intrigued by this line in the email:

I hadn't heard of any other schools doing this, but I think it's brilliant. Takes away the trepidation some students have about depositing before ASD. Anybody else heard of this?

Has anyone started negotiation with Emory yet? Or the consensus here is to wait at least April to start?

There is no negotiating with Emory for scholarship. They typically don't negotiate.

Submitted 11/5...still nothing. Will likely be withdrawing this week without a decision, unfortunately.

Re: Emory Class of 2017 (2013-2014 Cycle)
Unfortunate question:
I relied on the LSAC application deadline for Emory listed as 03/10/2014. That is when I submitted my application. Yet, the Emory Law website lists the application deadline as 03/01/2014. I received the emails that my application is complete.
What do you believe is the best course of action?
If I email Emory about the issue, I'll seem an idiot who doesn't pay attention to detail. On the other hand, I don't receive priority consideration if I submitted after the deadline and will be considered on a space-available basis. My numbers are competitive for Emory (165/4.0), but doubtfully competitive enough to succeed in that.
Disclosure: Obviously, I should have paid more careful attention to the official Emory website. And I know that ideally I should have submitted my applications far earlier.

I only submitted on the 3rd of March (though that also was only because they extended a fee waiver after the application deadline had passed) and I've already been accepted (with numbers I'd consider less competitive than yours, in profile if interested.) I would suggest staying quiet and waiting a little longer, at least to this time next weekHRomanus wrote:Unfortunate question:

Law Apps are down. I'm sure submitting a few days after the deadline, with proof that the LSAC site said the deadline was not up yet will not impact your chances.

I submitted around the close of January. However, many people who submitted at that time have gotten their decision. Also, people who submitted LAST week are getting decisions. Does that mean they have held my application? This is really the only school I'm waiting on, and will go if accepted. AA male here.

I was moved to completed on 2/5 and still haven't heard anything. It looked like, from the thread, that they have been emailing dings and mailing acceptances, but I haven't seen anything about the waitlist. Fingers crossed that I don't get an email for now and will come home one day this week to an acceptance package....jacketyellow wrote:I submitted around the close of January. Does the Seat deposit date vary based on the date your accepted or is the date the same for everyone? Can anyone say when the date they were given in the admissions packet was?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
