Just withdrew. That should put some money back into the pool for all of you. Good luck!

Hello peeps! Is anyone else still under review? My file was complete 1/03/12 and has been under review since 1/24/12. I am out of state.

I'm still under review. Would love to hear who is in, who is out and what everyone's numbers are, if they are willing to share.lilsheeba wrote:Hello peeps! Is anyone else still under review? My file was complete 1/03/12 and has been under review since 1/24/12. I am out of state.

Well, Journals have a tryout at the end of 1L year (it's your first two weeks of summer vacation). Moot Court is a mid-spring try-out (we just finished the 1L tryouts a few weeks ago).vaguephoenix wrote:How did you decide which activities to get involved with? Do you mind telling us about other aspects of your time while at UW? For example, were you on a journal and in what capacity? Stuff like that...
Thanks!
Clinicals are different, they are more like job applications, you submit your resume and the application form and wait. Some have interviews. No idea how the selection process works though, they don't have any grades when you turn them in. No interview, it might be random. 2L clinicals have interviews and such. I'm also doing a clinical, there are plenty of opportunities if you wish to do a clinical while you are at UW. I opted not to try out for Mock Trial, which also has tryouts.
Personally, Moot Court is probably the most useful to a future lawyer. Journals really don't matter unless you want to a.) be a professor, or b.) get biglaw (in which case it's law review or bust). You are free slave labor and don't really learn much of anything -- it's a resume booster, essentially. Mock Trial would also be beneficial, I can imagine, as you learn evidence inside-out. Clinicals give you practice doing the office/client work, moot gives you the skills for oral arguments, mock trial gives skills for courtroom presence, journal gives(?) skills for academic research. The first three are most relevant to a practicing attorney, the last really isn't.

Applied RD and got an affirmative 2 weeks later. (Fastest of my apps so far, and the one I submitted most recently, to boot. If only Minnesota were this fast....)
I'm out-of-state, but I was above the medians on both LSAT and GPA.
Good luck to those who are waiting, and congrats to those who got in!

Congrats! For others who are still waiting, it looks like it might be a while because of the updated deadline. I doubt they will start looking at the watilist pool until late April or early May.MentalGopher wrote:Applied RD and got an affirmative 2 weeks later. Can anyone who was admitted already comment on when they have to make a commitment by? How much the deposit is? I thought I saw somewhere on the thread it was $0...honor system. Thanks!

It is a $0 deposit. Mine was originally due on (I think) April 23. They give you an option to defer your decision date until May 14 if you need more time. Once admitted, they will email a simple online form that you can submit if you want to matriculate, defer until May 14, or reject admission.iamsparticus wrote:Can anyone who was admitted already comment on when they have to make a commitment by? Did anyone else get an email about being a candidate for the Godfrey and Kahn fellowship?

Yes. After doing some research, it is apparently only URM. G&K gives you an attorney mentor, sets you up with a 1L summer associate gig, and then invites you for a 2L associate stint if you are successful at your 1L job.

Re: UW Madison c/o 2015
Few questions for y'all, since UW is on spring break and I'm hoping the collective mind has some answers for me:
Has anyone who already "reserved their place" received MyUW login information, or know when we should get that by?
I'm 99% certain on Madison, but don't want to let the other acceptances go by the wayside if I can't get the necessary loans from UW... has anyone received financial aid info?
Also, just to be clear: there's no deposit for Madison, right?
