Thanks for the encouraging info . . . I went complete 1/16, which probably is considered the latter half of January. Still, fingers crossed for some news this week.lawlaw87 wrote:By tomorrow, it will be full 8 weeks since my application has been In Review/Decision Pending. I emailed admission to make sure that there is nothing wrong with my aap. and this is what they said: "It is the expectation that files from the start of January will have decisions posted by Friday". I'm crossing my fingers to hear good news either Thursday or Friday! Good luck to everyone

I got mailed a Financial Aid packet from SU but no decision or movement on status checker - is this just a courtesy mailing ?

Yes, I believe everyone receives those. I remember reading a SU thread from last year where someone was denied and then received the financial aid mailer afterwards :-/xChiTowNx wrote:I got mailed a Financial Aid packet from SU but no decision or movement on status checker - is this just a courtesy mailing ?

what have people heard about SU placing graduates in corporations as in house council? When I visited a few weeks ago the feeling I got was not very good.

Hi all,
I'm new here but I wanted to say congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far. I was curious if anyone has heard about anyone getting a notice for admissions or rejections to the ARC program?
Thanks and good luck to you all, especially for those who are still waiting to hear back.

I believe they have just started making decisions regarding the ARC Program, so if you are currently in "AA Stall," hopefully the wait won't be too much longer.Lawntv12 wrote:Hi all,

Another admited here
Mostly trying to find out informaiton about housing... I've seen the info on the neighborhoods, etc. Just curious how people "survive" on law school loans..lol. Seattle is pretty expensive.
Anyways, congrats to everyone in!

Thanks for letting me know. I'm really anxious to hear back so I appreciate this info. If there's been any movement on this topic, would you mind letting me know? It would be great to anticipate any news at this point.
Thank you!

So am I correct in assuming that nobody has successfully negotiated an increase in scholarship money?

I'm not taking it due to scheduling issues, though it does sound like a nice way to transition. However, when I did a tour with a current student she said she felt at a greater advantage for not having taken it in the summer. She told me that the summer course is typically taught by a visiting professor so you miss out on the opportunity to build a relationship and potential job reference for the future. I'm not sure how important that is in the long run but I thought I'd just share.lawlaw87 wrote:is anyone taking Criminal Law during summer?

Re: Seattle University c/o 2015
I actually have mixed opinions on taking Criminal Law in the summer, but overall I think it provides an advantage, and many of you who are currently admitted for Fall might have received an email/letter from me regarding this very topic. I think it is a great opportunity to learn to be a law student before being thrown to the wolves. You learn how to prepare for class and exams with one course, as opposed to five. Additionally, you get to find out with one class if your study techniques need tweaking. Would you rather learn that you were doing things wrong and have four poor grades (no fall grade for Legal Writing), or only one? It's also great having three finals (again, no final for Legal Writing) in the Fall, while your friends who could not take Crim Law in the summer have four.akakak wrote:I'm not taking it due to scheduling issues, though it does sound like a nice way to transition. However, you have yet to take Legal Writing, and I think this is a disadvantage. Legal Writing not only prepares you for practice, but it is extremely relevant and useful on exams. I also think a potential drawback is the visiting professors. While they provide an opportunity to get a different perspective, because it is our first class, there is nothing to compare it to, so I think you lose some of the potential allure. The TAs are also unable to be as helpful because the professor is new to them, so they can't provide focused help because they don't know what the professor wants.
I think the benefits strongly outweigh the drawbacks, but I wanted to try and give a somewhat objective opinion.
