Would be it be best to send 3 LOR since Michigan "encourages" it. I have 2 ready to go, but the third may not be submitted until next week, possibly later. Do I ...

1) send the two I have and save the third for the waitlist
2) send the two I have and the third as soon as I get it (will they begin reviewing before the third gets to them?)
3) wait to submit until I have the third processed

Help would be appreciated! I'm 3.5/170, so I have borderline numbers.

It generally helps to have 3.

However, ONLY send a third if you are confident that it will be good.

If you send a third submit your application now and send the third latter.

Thanks. Will they review my application before the third is sent? I just assign the letter and LSAC will automatically send it, correct?

I'm not sure. But, even if they don't review your file before the third is in you should go complete sooner.

Probably sending my application to Michigan in soon, within a week or so. Hoping I can get in RD with a 171, 3.53. Penn is my clear first choice, but I'd love an acceptance to Michigan as well.

And I agree to just go ahead and send it all. I've never gotten the logic behind waiting for a WL THEN sending in a LOR to get off. If its good enough to get you off, its probably good enough to keep you from landing there in the first place IMO.

Once your WLd it's good to have something additional to send it to show that you're still interested, and have someone else vouching for why you'll be a good candidate.
Unless it's a really awesome letter it probably won't be enough to get you in to begin with, but when WL spots open up and they are looking for someone with your numbers it can help you stand out when you have an additional positive in your application.

Submitted RD two days ago and still haven't gotten a confirmation of receipt e-mail - should I be concerned or does it usually take a few days to get around to this? The reason why I ask is because I applied to a few other schools at the same time as UMich and got responses from them all almost immediately...

They are SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Like molasses. They also use a different status checker, it can take weeks before you get anything.

This may be relevant. I got this email back after inquiring about a fee waiver:

Thank you for your interest in Michigan Law. The Admissions Office will be moving into our new home on the 2nd floor of South Hall on October 26, 27, and 28. According to LSN, the first acceptances went out Nov 7 for Mich:

Mine says 10/28 as well...hopefully it means somethings about to happen. Michigan notifies by mail, right? So to start receiving decisions on the 8th or so, they'd have to start sending things out soon.

Michigan updates the "last updated" date on every day of the week except Sunday.

Nah, because once it updates for the day I think it's done (IIRC). So if it changes at 11 AM, you can stop checking again until the next day.

This will be helpful for your sanity in the coming months.

Hahaha. I actually don't check my status checkers very much. I just assume if there's no movement on TLS then there won't be any movement with me either.

Sent in my app last night and woke up to a solicited fee waiver in my email. Anyone have any luck getting a refund? Should I just email about it, or would a phone call be better?
