Looking through LSN, there aren't very many at all from past cycles and this year there are already 5 that I know of. Obviously the information I have is not representative nor reliable, but I wonder if there is an increase in URM EDs this cycle and what the effects will be if this is the case. (Feel free to tell me I am crazy and overanalyzing hahaha)

Another school started following me too (right around the time I went complete). Does this mean anything lol? It doesn't even seem like they follow random people.

yea, I'm not sure what to make of it... I don't want to start being all "I hope you take me penn!" because I follow a number of schools, and Yale has tweeted me back so who knows who's watching haha. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on those.

Question about ED: How do we find out? Through phone?

Hi! I applied ED to Penn and submitted my application on the 10th of November. Since then, my application has been "Received and Processing." Does anyone know how long it usually takes to go complete or what will happen if it isn't "Complete" by the December 1st deadline? Should I call admissions?

Sooo....hate to be pushy and bump my previous question, but does anyone know how ED people hear back? It seems like last year it was done over phone - is that it, or is there some kind of change with the status checker as well?

Cousin was admitted last year via ED........ first was contacted by phone...... caller did not say anything other than for her to check her online status link........which showed that she was admitted. I guess that Penn wanted to stick by their policy of not disclosing decision info over the phone.

Wow - that's amusing. It is interesting that almost every t14 school provides admissions decisions in a different way - most will only disclose by phone or mail, rather than email or status checker.

Ohhh, I see. Thanks for the info! So........I guess same with Michigan: relentless status-checker log-ins it is :)

Does anyone know what the different status options are? Mine has been complete since 10/31 and the paragraph at the top says "in queue for review," so does that mean that I will get a separate update when I actually am under review, or will I be stuck at complete until I get a decision?

There's 'under committee review', which I'm guessing will be your next step :)

I applied RD and went complete in September and moved from "in queue" to "under review" the week before Thanksgiving. Some other September RD apps did as well, check a few pages back. I don't think this means much though since it seems that Penn doesn't release decisions until early December anyway.

Mines been "Under Committee Review" (for ED) since 11/10, and then the date changed to 11/17 but still Under Committee Review. Penn has 2 people read all apps so I think when you first go UR it means the first person is reading/will read it, and when the date changes it means the 2nd person read/is reading it. But that's just a guess. Since you're still in the queue, yours hasn't gotten read yet, but I wouldn't worry even if you're ED, since I was looking through last year's ED Penn thread and it seemed like a few ED people didn't go UR until just a few days before they started giving decisions.

Can't speak about the cousin but they told you that you were admitted on the phone. Sometimes they even left a message telling you. Check last year's thread.

For those too lazy to click: ED decisions will start being sent out the week of December 5th and through December 23rd. Some RD candidates will get decisions before December 23rd as well.
ccccc

Okay, starting the 5th and keeping fingers crossed.......

Now that it's pretty well settled that ED candidates will get phone calls if they're accepted, what about those rejected/waitlisted? I can't imagine that they'll call waitlist/reject's just to get the pleasure of hearing the anguish in heir voices............. that would be soooooo cruel.

I'd been in queue for review for a month and a half, and I just switched to "under committee review" this afternoon! RD applicant.
