Congrats to all the admits, esp. the $120k kids! Going to a school like Illinois with a full tuition scholarship is quite the opportunity. Kudos.

In with $75K . . . slightly tugging me away from Boalt, but my claws are pretty much sunk in. Decisions, decisions . . .
Congrats to those admitted, apologies to those dinged, and best luck to those still waiting!

Admittances seem unpredictable, but scholarship info is pretty predictable it seems for out of state non-URMs.
Congrats to yall. Does UIUC make ANYONE pay sticker? XD

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
I was nervous about checking that e-mail from Dean Pless this morning. But I'm glad I mustered enough courage: Admitted with $120,000.
Excuse me for my ignorance / poor forum navigation, but does this number reflect tuition increase over the next 3 years?

Tuition didn't increase last year. But 40k is 40k regardless if tuition is 40k or 50k.neonx wrote:I was nervous about checking that e-mail from Dean Pless this morning. But I'm glad I mustered enough courage: Admitted with $120,000.

I just came across this answer from the Dean Pless thread:Hannibal wrote:Tuition didn't increase last year. Pless wrote:Tuition will most likely go up, but the amount isn't for certain yet. The increase will most likely be a percentage in the low single digits. Tuition will go up less for current students. Scholarships are fixed, unless they are full tuition. The 33k and 40k scholarships are full tuition and will match any increases. Our scholarships are guaranteed for all three years, no minimum GPA requirements.kk19131 wrote:Is tuition going to be raised for 2011-2012?
If so, does that mean that my scholarship will be, functionally, worth less in years 2 and 3 than it is now?

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Congrats to everyone admitted today!
For all those WL'd don't feel too bad, I have been there. Either way it doesn't look like there will be as little of activity as there was last year when I was on the waitlist (only 6 were admitted vs. 60 the year before). My two cents is to of course write an LOCI and visit if you can, showing you are genuinely interested in Illinois seems to really help.
To everyone rejected, I'm sure you have/will have other great options.

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Remember:
Your scholarship (unless it is full) is a set amount, so 20,30k is worth only 20,30k REGARDLESS of how much of a tuition increase comes between now and 2014...

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Rejected this morning :/
UIUC was the highest ranked school on my list, and my application was pretty much a hail mary (3.58/161/Whiter than sour cream/Out of State), but with a free app I figured why not take a shot. Thanks to Dean Pless and co. for the quick response (submitted exactly 5 weeks ago), I don't regret applying for one second. Good luck to everyone else!
