Yeah, me too. I've been to DC a lot because I went to UG in Baltimore, but I have no idea where American is. I'll be there from March 31 - April 3rd and I only know a couple of people in DC so I'll be hanging solo most of the time. We should arrange some post info session bar hopping.gdane wrote:Im excited to see the school, neighborhood and, most importantly, meet my potential classmates. You guys seem cool.

It's in the northwest part of DC out on the red line. It's kind of a long commute travel wise, but it's in a good area. There's tons to do in DC obviously so American would lend lots of opportunities for a great social lifeilovesf wrote:Yeah, me too. Yea, as more people become admitted we'll have to organize something.

I'll be there in April too. I've seen the school already, and I love the neighborhood. It's quiet, clean, and nice. Kinda far from downtown, but I actually prefer that. Less traffic!!gdane wrote:This was assumed from day 1. Lol.ilovesf wrote: We should arrange some post info session bar hopping.

Is this school really worth 65K a year (tutition, living, etc.)
almost 200k in debt in a city with 2 superior law schools.
any insight on this thought?

As much as I love the school (I want to do PI), I probably won't be able to go if I don't get a scholarship. I applied for the PIPS one though, if I get it I'll be set, though it's a small chance.omarlos wrote:Is this school really worth 65K a year (tutition, living, etc.)

Re: American University 2011 Applicants
IMHO, no. With GULC and GWU in the same city, American is going to be picking up the scraps UNLESS you are in their public interest program. But even so, $200K for public interest is a no go anyway.omarlos wrote:Is this school really worth 65K a year (tutition, living, etc.)

I would go to a regional school with a scholly before I pay sticker at AU. It just seems like a bad investment.

Everyone talks about PI, but AU also has a very highly ranked international program. And from what I've been told by about 5 different lawyers, Going to DC for LS (even at AU) gives you more national mobility than a mid-level regional school with a decent reputation...omarlos wrote:Is this school really worth 65K a year (tutition, living, etc.)

I dunno if it's worth 200k, but I would go there before I'd go to a lower ranked regional school, like Seton Hall, or Villanova cuz i dont really know if I want to be stuck practicing where I attend LS.
Anyway, there's a lot of talk that any LS outside of t20 "dont matter", but I personally I think LS is what you make of it. I'd rather be at the top of my class at a lower school, then lost in the crowd or ranked at the bottom of a t20, but thats just me.

Anybody planning on attending the 'Los Angeles Reception with Dean Grossman for Alumni and JD Admitted Students' in Santa Monica March 2nd? I'm wondering if there are any other Los Angeles residents in this thread.

It is a very strong school. People on here lack real world experience. I would say that people should stay in the Top 100 though.girlonfire wrote:Everyone talks about PI, but AU also has a very highly ranked international program. I have been waitlisted and if accepted I would attend.
