Stepping in to confirm that our journals are 100% write-on, grades are not considered.

If you want to participate in the clinic you are guaranteed to get it, but aren't guaranteed your first choice of which semester you participate.

Regarding what sets Iowa apart: our library is abysmal and the people are fantastic.

A question for 1Ls: Do you (or people) usually fly in to Eastern Iowa Airport or Quad City Airport? Do you recommend one over the other? What is the cost for shuttle between either airport to campus? I am out of state and planning my visit to the school sometimes this spring. Any insights are much appreciated.

What most 0Ls understand, correctly I might add, is that ranking matters. What most 0Ls don't understand, however, is that fluctuations in rankings are nearly meaningless. Generally speaking, the same schools have been ranked in the same spots for all of eternity. A law school has a certain reputation with an employer, and that reputation is pretty much set in stone. If something is going to change that reputation, it certainly isn't going to be because the school moved up or down 3-5 spots in the rankings. Employers don't start hiring from a school all of a sudden just because they are ranked a little higher.

The release of the new USNews rankings has to be THE most over-hyped thing that happens on here. All it means is now you may or may not get to say you go to a T20, T30, T50, etc.

Eastern Iowa Airport is significantly closer (25 minutes as opposed to a little over an hour). Not sure how much a cab costs, I think somewhere around $30. Its not too far though, and people will be able to give yo a ride. I don't know what a cab costs from MLI, but it would probably be prohibitively expensive.

A cab is $25-30 dollars from the Eastern Iowa Airport to Iowa City. Also there is this really good (cheap) airline that flies directly to this airport but just from specific cities.. This is the airline that I take every time I go home. The website is http://www.allegiantair.com

you could also fly into des moines (largest airport in iowa) and either rent a car or take the megabus (for usually less than $5) to iowa city. the drive is just under 2 hours, and is a straight shot on I-80.

i used to only fly into moline because it was significantly cheaper...until airtran discontinued service. if you want convenience, cedar rapids is the best bet by far...but sometimes if you're willing to rent a car/travel, flying into des moines on the right day can be super cheap.

Chris, you're a splitter. I'm sure you know that you'll be waiting until April or May for scholarship information. TBH candidates with a 167-170 with a 3.6+ seem to be safer picks for schools than a 171 2.9x.

April or May? Then Iowa has ZERO chance of getting me to go there, despite in-state tuition. If for nothing else, solely on the principle alone that TELLING me scholarship information will come in 7-10 days and then waiting 4-5 MONTHS is absurd.

If you were promised scholarship information in 7-10 days and have been waiting substantially longer than that, I would call and see the status. I'm not sure why people are so hesitant of calling the adcomms and speaking live. As long as you're not an asshat and not pestering them with the same question every day, I'm sure they'd be amenable to speak with you.

Zero evidence of this, and many people think it is a myth that ANY school does this.
