I've heard of people getting in-state tuition wavers for Wisconsin though. So it could be offered for us OOS students. The waiver alone knocks it down $60k or so.dreakol wrote: ok ok. I've heard some schools wave oos tuition but you actually qualify for in state tuition.

^^ Hoping for this in my case. Pretty much narrowed things down to UW or Ohio State (half tuition scholly) while I ride out the ND waitlist.Flips88 wrote:I've heard of people getting in-state tuition wavers for Wisconsin though. Just received financial offer, but it is contingent on staying in the top 20% of the class. I am certainly considering it, but makes me very nervous.

No. Just an unfortunate thing to come out when I'm visiting this week. Still waiting on scholly info, which will be the biggest factor in my decisionEstboundNDwn wrote:Does that mean you'll be withdrawing?Flips88 wrote:Dropped 7 spots to 35th. Yeesh

The rankings drop is not going to change how WI places within the state or surrounding states, I would not think.Flips88 wrote:Dropped 7 spots to 35th. Yeesh

Re: UW-Madison 2011
Don't forget, WI was ranked 35 just last year, then 28, now back to 35. It's overall score fell 1 point, from 63 to 62, and it may very well go back up again after this year. Employers could care less about these natural variations in the rankings, and it is hardly indicative of anything. Employers don't care.
One thing I wonder about is the strength of ones applications transferring out of WI after their 1L year (the situation I am considering). If there are two students who are otherwise tied, would the fact that their schools now switched places on the USNWR rankings make the difference?
Also, I worry about trends. Is WI's falling funding (and other schools with dependence on state funding) going to further contribute to its gradual decline? I would have thought so, but look at UC-Davis, rising in the ranks despite being in CA's terrible financial situation AND more dependent on CA funding than Hastings. So...go figure.

Got my scholarship offer email. Rather disappointed. Comparable to my offer from Vanderbilt even though I'm above both of Wisconsin's 75ths.

Re: UW-Madison 2011
It's not a big deal for us. Wisconsin will be between 25-35 every year and it's employment perspectives aren't really going to change at all. If anything, we're losing out on some of the bullshit measures (resources, employment), and have climbed or stayed the same in ones that actually matter in the long term (LSAT, reputation rankings). And yes, I say employment is a bullshit statistic; every school lies about it.jwjbaek wrote:yeah i am... haha fill me in?Flips88 wrote:You're new, eh?jwjbaek wrote:do rankings matter?Flips88 wrote:Dropped 7 spots to 35th. How much is that? less than 10K? If so, I think you will go to a better ranked school.Flips88 wrote:Got my scholarship offer email. Rather disappointed. Comparable to my offer from Vanderbilt even though I'm above both of Wisconsin's 75ths.

Any one got in off the waitlist at Wisconsin, i've sent a loci and an lsat addendum. I'm waiting with a 3.35 and a 159 and 164. Anyone in with those numbers?

Sent out a loci via regular mail at the suggestion of people earlier in the thread
I think my directness was a bit risky, but I wanted to be honest. We'll see what they think.
