I don't think you're necessarily going to WL'd. I wrote a really hasty "Why Duke" and Dean Hoye referenced it in his personal note (nice touch!) to me in the acceptance package. And my LSAT/GPA are above their 75%. So hopefully, an acceptance in 10 days!

Sorry to hear it! Those are great numbers, though, so I'm sure you'll get a lot of great acceptances!

Do you actually want to go to Duke? You'll probs get in somewhere higher ranked..

Well, I love the area, and definitely would have given it fair consideration.
I hope you're right, though.

I think what really made the difference for me was writing a thorough "Why Duke," detailing how much I wanted to attend Duke specifically for their JD/MA program. Best of luck to everyone else!
Ahhhh I had no idea I was supposed to write such a thing. I'll probably get dinged. Oh well. Just waiting for the email now. Depressing.
I just found out I got in. I didn't write a "Why Duke." So I wouldn't worry too much.

For those of you already admitted, I just got back from visiting the campus. It's REALLY amazing, and the faculty and students there are super nice. Plus they have a ton of really incredible opportunities. I was really impressed, so I would definitely recommend visiting. Just FYI...

Got in last night. 3.78/171 (single take). No "Why Duke?" but I applied to the JD/MA Econ so I wrote a separate statement for that (was told I would hear back regarding the MA later). Pretty excited, not my first choice, but definitely a place I could see myself going, and a good way to start off the cycle.

First Acceptance! 3.90/172. No Why Duke essay.
I'm from NC, but have never visited Duke. Perhaps that day has come?

Unfortunately no.

I was only on campus for the day, and I was mostly inside meeting people - not much opportunity to whip out the camera. But all the rumors that say it looks like an Ivy campus are definitely true. The law school building looks more modern, but it's really pretty with floor to ceiling windows so there's a ton of natural lighting.

Ugh. I knew this would happen. Duke is the first school to do this to me, and I expect every other school to do so.
"We would like to review your fall grades from [my school]. When they are available, please send a copy to LSAC to update your LSDAS report, then let me know when they are ready. Once we have received your updated transcript, we will complete our review of your application."
This is what happens when you graduate in 3 years, and are coming straight from UG. They have 4 semesters of work on my transcript, and I expect every school to want to see at least a 5th.
So much for being super excited to see my priority track application decision.

Yep, my app got held up by needing a Dean's Certification for a disciplinary addendum I wrote. I know it was my fault for not having it sent out earlier, but they waited until day 9 of 10 to tell me. I got it send out the Monday before Turkey Day, and I just got an email two days ago saying I should expect a decision basically in another 10 days.
10 days has turned into 5 1/2 weeks

I feel ya. My grades won't even be in until early January so it'll be a good month and a half from their initial "hey we'll tell ya in 10 days!!!". This better not affect scholarship stuff.

Did anyone else get a letter from Dean Levi containing an article he wrote in the Duke Law Journal titled "Autocrat of the Armchair?"
I thought it was a tad bizarre since the article was mostly just a critique of a work of which I was unfamiliar.

i haven't technically gotten them

i put down my home address because my apt at school is notoriously bad about mail, so my mom called me to tell me all about them. my parents only live like half an hour away though so im seriously considering driving home tomorrow to pick up the package...even though its finals week hahaha.

I did PT but didn't get accepted right away - I don't think I'm going to write a statement of continued interest or whatever. I expect my grades to be fine (at least a 3.4) this semester, but I think this semester is going to bring my overall GPA down a bit - nothing impressive. Should I bother to keep sending them stuff?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
