So did anyone make it to the open house today? Just wondering how it went. I called and they said I could schedule a visit after classes resume.

LSAT and GPA are both above the 75th percentiles. LSN data is sketchy because this isn't a popular school, but a 160 3.5 seems to give you a lock. Also if you are from Ohio, that'll help you with admissions and scholarships.

Also, just got scholly info. 25k per year

Would you mind sharing your numbers? Any stipulations on that money? If not on the thread a PM would be great.

To the current Case 1L, I have several questions;

I know (or at least thought) CWRU undergrad is considered on par or close to schools such as WUSTL, Emory, Vandy etc, but the law school is a bit below that. Any chance Case makes a concerted effort to try and make a big rankings climb to get up to the T20-30 over the next decade or so? How are job prospects looking right now, both summer for 1Ls and 2Ls, and long term for 3Ls? Roughly how much could one expect to pay for living expenses in the area around Case?

More generically, have you enjoyed your time at the school so far, and what is quality of life like at CWRU?

I went to the open house today. Not a lot of people were able to come because of the snow, it went well though. They talked about financial aid, career services, the curriculum, and there was a tour. All the information you really could have gotten from the web site but it was nice to talk to the professors and students.

Got a $15k renewable scholarship.

I think Case admitted me with earlier 164 LSAT and 4.0 GPA but my retake in December was a 170. Got the travel stipend e-mail but still no scholarship info. Hoping that's just because it was a Friday.

i'll try to tackle the previous questions:

-the law school took a rankings drop under the last administration (he currently is a professor now at case), he pushed alot of social justice work and actually wrote a few letters to the ABA voicing other law schools to not care about rankings as much and that USNWR was handcuffing schools basically... prior to this we were ranked in the low 40's, and honestly i think that's where we should belong now with a ceiling of the mid 30's.. alot of alumni and donors were upset about the drop in rankings and i really expect that admissions to make things more competitive and our curriculum to continue to expand and innovate

-case has a pretty impressive national reach and overall employment stats for a school outside of the t25, i honestly feel it could compete with any of the schools in that 25-50 range on the USNWR.. cleveland is also top 10 legal market that is literally in our backyard

haven’t heard about any 3L’s freaking out or 2L’s panicking about the summer during my time here, being a 1L it’s always tough to land a cushy firm job, but our career services does a great job putting students into legal positions over the summer

-law school community is great overall, the faculty/administration are all extremely approachable and willing to help… our student gov’t does a great job providing social event opportunities and we have a ton of groups/clubs/etc., so you will be able to find something that meets your interests… case is competitive amongst students but not cut-throat, students will help each other and can rely on 2L’s and 3L’s for help, it’s a good mix and i think we have a good collection of students

-cleveland is dirt cheap to live in, it is drastically lower in terms of COL when compared to other U.S. cities, if you want to talk about actual #’s feel free to PM me and i could give you an approximate based off what you think your living needs would be…there is a ton of places to live in the surrounding area of university circle

-cleveland in general gets a bad rep, but i’ve really enjoyed my time here thus far… the city actually has a lot to do in terms of nightlife.. the difference between cleveland and a lot of other cities, the suburbs.. university circle (where case is) has a ton of cultural things to do, little italy (i believe the 2nd or 3rd biggest in the country) is walking distance from the school, coventry is a cool area that the majority of students go out in, cleveland heights/shaker heights/beachwood/pepper pike/ avon and west lake are all extremely nice areas that have interesting things to do as well… so even though case is basically in the city, there is a ton of areas of refuge for students if they’re not into the crowd a city offers

I have no idea if this is a delayed wait list or rejection? I'm confused as to why they wouldn't just wait list or reject me now if my application is so borderline. Could it be something positive?

I received acceptance through e-mail yesterday (1/13), 30k a year scholarship to boot as long as I keep a 3.15. Also received a $200 travel stipend through e-mail. Now have to give Case some serious consideration, my numbers are 165, 3.68 btw.

On LSN people have gotten rejected and waitlisted already, so a hold seems positive to me. If they wanted to, they would have rejected/waitlisted me with the other batch of people.

I'm still stuck on Eapp receipt from 11/9. It's kind of frustrating because I thought they would have received my December LSAT score by now, since every other school I applied to has.

I was stuck on that from 12-16. LSAC mailed them my December score on 1-4 so I was worried that they hadn't received it but I went complete today.

status checker just changed to todays date, but still "committee review". i wonder if that means they will be sending out more decisions soon?
