At the risk of talking out of turn, since I didn't apply to GULC, I will try to summarize:jaskat wrote:What happened with GULC?
A bunch of people's status checkers changed to "decision rendered" on 12/01, and nobody has heard anything yet, so it's sort of a frenzy of wild speculation in the GULC thread right now. Sort of like what happened to us yesterday with Northeastern, but with a longer period of silence, and at a school with one of the highest application counts.

Haha, yup, I think "frenzy of wild speculation" about sums it up! It's just taking them quite a long time to get us the decision, and it's frustrating that they updated the status checker if they weren't ready to really notify us though. I'm being optimistic about NU though!Burger in a can wrote:At the risk of talking out of turn, since I didn't apply to GULC, I will try to summarize:jaskat wrote:What happened with GULC?

Re: Northeastern
I'm sure you will be fine. These schools seem really unpredictable. A wave of acceptances hit Villanova applicants about 2 weeks ago, and lots of them were below my numbers AND applied later than I did. I still haven't heard from them, but I think admissions offices just work in mysterious ways.AlanShore wrote:i didnt get a decision today. complete 11/16.. EA. LSAT way above 75%, gpa above median. but i also have a very weird application... o well. i'll hope for something soon!
(Plus, I think having a Boston Legal Tar gives you a huge edge at Boston schools. They're probably just figuring out how much money to throw at you.

I wonder though, is the thing about the e-mails true or semi-true? Is it really a good sign that we're getting decisions at this time?

Re: Northeastern
Every other cycle I've been watching (Fordham, Villanova, BU, and sort of Cornell) has been sending the good news first. (Cornell sent deferrals before rejections, but that's still better news before bad) I think it is a good sign. I guess we'll find out by the end of the week- someone in Boston is going to get that letter soon!jaskat wrote:I wonder though, is the thing about the e-mails true or semi-true? Re: Northeastern
Hi friends,
I'm also in your waiting boat. I'm a little above the GPA median, at the 75% for LSAT score..feeling pretty optimistic. I'm from NY so I kind of thought it'd come earlier in the week than say..Texas. But after that admissions fib, who can say!
While we're waiting here, Boston natives or Boston-savvy people, can you recommend some cheap but good parts of Boston to move to? When I'm not lurking on this site, I like to scout out future apartments, but there are so many little neighborhoods on the Boston map on apartments.com that I don't know which are the safe ones (if that's a big issue?) slash ones close to the school, cool areas, etc. Tips?

I got my letter today, but I'm in Boston so it'll probably be another few days if you're farther away.

Thanks so much! I have a lot of respect for NU! The co-op program is very well regarded and I know that I am going to practice law in Boston, so it was a great place to apply!
Good luck to everyone else still waiting

Congrats! And I heard that they are a little tight-fisted with their scholarships, so it must be exciting to be offered some dough!bits6884 wrote:I live in South Boston. I received my letter today.
