They release a very small batch right smack in the middle of December. Admits only. God, I would KILL to be in that batch. I'm going to Vegas with a bunch of guys on 12/18 and a Stanford acceptance would make that weekend something to (not) remember.managamy wrote:Good luck!hermione0901 wrote:Hey everyone, I'm weighing in here too. Submitted 11/1, complete 11/17. Stanford is definitely my top choice, so I would SOOOOOO love to get an answer by mid-December!!!
Not to douse your enthusiasm, but I have heard that they don't release most of their decisions until January.

I know. But they sent one of their batches of decisions out last year in December, so I'm holding out hope!

That would be very nice. Harvard for Thanksgiving, Stanford for Christmas would be a lovely pair of presents.crackberry wrote:They release a very small batch right smack in the middle of December. If all goes well, we can shoot for the Triple Crown (Yale) in the spring! Your numbers are sensational, by the way, especially in a solid undergrad program like WUSTL. I assume that you only applied to Alabama for the Itunes.

Thank you! And you're absolutely right about Alabama. Application fee waived, $20 on iTunes, why not?

I thought about doing that and then right before hitting submit I remembered that still had to pay $12 for the law school report.hermione0901 wrote:Thank you! And you're absolutely right about Alabama. Application fee waived, $20 on iTunes, why not?

*big sigh of relief* Stop scaring me, friend!tar2009 wrote:yeah. the OPTIONAL one. I was just wondering if many people here submitted it. i sure didnt.

No, I didn't submit the optional diversity statement. Since I don't exactly offer the type of diversity that they're targeting with that essay, I thought that it was better not to write it than to write an unconvincing statement that implicitly illustrated just how little I have to offer in that regard.
I have much more confidence in my stats than my softs. If a LS isn't convinced by the hard data that I have to present, I don't think that we were probably made for each other in the first place.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
agreed, i wrote a pretty weak DS for penn and mich, but didn't think it was good enough to warrant sending it on to stanford. figured if they didn't like my softs/writing i was probably screwed anyway.managamy wrote:tar2009 wrote:yeah. the OPTIONAL one. I'm 99.9% sure Stanford picks their class at random from 168+ / 3.8+ applicants

Hmm, I thought that you'd learned your lesson regarding prognostications. Wait for the first 167 acceptance.VoidSix wrote:I'm 99.9% sure Stanford picks their class at random from 168+ / 3.8+ applicants

Okay, so that was hyperbole. But really--I thought they were just GPA and soft heavy. But in comes bgc, who has amazing softs and a 3.9 / 179, flat out rejection from Stanford.

Yes, bgc scared me a bit. Perhaps he embezzled public funds or concluded his PS with a paragraph on why he wanted to go to Berkeley.VoidSix wrote:Okay, so that was hyperbole. He probably didn't even send in a PS, just the image that was on all the "Fuck Stanford" t-shirts of the Berkeley Bear screwing the Cardinal.
