I was told my application was very confusing to the everyone who looked at it and they had no idea why I wanted to go to law school or what I could bring to "the 15th best law school in the county" (he actually said this). It was very confrontational in a "prove yourself to us" way that none of the other interviews I did last year were. No hard feelings, though - it wasn't a great application tbh!

So, just heads up -- prepare for tougher questions if they reach out to you! I know they don't interview a lot and I know they aren't always like this, but they can be.

Good luck to everyone!
That seems to be an extremely petty move from the school. One would hope those methods of "interviewing" have been cleared up with this cycle.
Not surprising to me. I had a phone call with someone in admissions last year after being waitlisted. I was really wanting to move to Austin with my husband so UT was the perfect school for us. I was living in Seattle and couldn't get down to the school for a visit because I was in the Navy and couldn't get any leave. A phone call was my best option to express my interest. The guy called me about 15 minutes after the time we had set up and was just flat out rude from the first sentence. He was demeaning and dismissive and frankly just an ass.

I was pretty shaken up after the call considering how much I wanted to go to school there and was genuinely trying to show as much interest as possible. The admission office there is a nightmare. Nobody was ever friendly to me, communication was minimal and short, and I was disheartened for months.

Fortunately UVA was nice from day one and it was rather easy to tell UT to shove it after UVA's ASW.

Ya know, I'm not sure petty is the right word, but it sucked and if this warning could help to not catch even one person off guard, I figured it was worth it to post.

I'll say, I wasn't happy with my lsat score and that is the main reason I am reapplying this year, but that UT interview exposed a lot of holes in my application that I've been able to shore up and hopefully that rough interview helps me out. I'll chose to take it as a positive.

Hey, good for you! I'm really hopeful for UVA this cycle too.

I called the admissions office to ask this. They told me to submit my application and then send the essay as an attachment to the admissions email address. I applied the first day, though, so I would call them again to make sure that's what they still want.

So, I submitted my app about 5 weeks ago, but I've been thinking about writing a Why Texas addendum. Do you guys think it's too late, or would it be a good idea? I'm OOS and don't really have any ties to TX, just think it's an awesome school and would be interested in sticking around after graduation.

For what it's worth, I was emailed and asked to provide an optional "Why Texas Law" addendum after I submitted my application. Given that, I would imagine you could certainly send in a "Why Texas" addendum.

I did not know that resident students admitted under ED get a 10k stipend for 3 years.

To my knowledge, no full tuition is awarded to students accepted under ED. Just the 30k stipend.

Does UT grant merit fee waivers? Can you solicit or would it just be through CRS?

Thanks for any info!

I emailed the admissions office and asked for one over the summer, and they said that they only offer merit fee waivers through CRS.

I asked for a waiver during my visit and they gave it to me right on the spot. Applying next week ED!

What made you apply early to Texas? Is the cost something you do not have to worry about?

Splitter. And I really want to be at Texas. I visited there, sat in on a class. It felt like home

I feel the same way except UVA is my first choice.

I just did too, she specifically mentioned the fact that I'm a non-resident of Texas. I'm planning on about the same length as other Why X essays I wrote, 1 page double spaced.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
