Is the DKL essay not just a diversity statement?
no clue lol, it seems to be referred to as not so optional in that everyone should do it but I applied in a second wave of applications and did so pretty quickly and ignored optional essays and just got lucky so never really looked at it... what do they ask for?
eta: so looked it up (assuming I found what they ask for on actual app) it looks like the answer would be sorta? like I said I didn't do it so I probably don't have the best insight but it sounds like it would be a more general diversity statement if that makes sense. Like I view DS as something that you only write if you have something that truly makes you diverse (not good explanation but theres plenty of resources that tell you what you should write one for)
-- dkl essay seems more general, read ND's dkl mission statement and say think what about you and your past, etc. that helps you fit into that mission or something (again, not the best source on this essay)
I wrote about a specific dynamic within my family that gave me a wide perspective and true sense of understanding. Some may not say it counts but I enjoyed writing it.
I'm a white female from the coast with a solid liberal upbringing... not sure there's anything I can speak to about diversity. But I am worried that I didn't do it since it's 'not so optional.' But I guess I would rather not then try to stretch my experience to something it's not.
As long as you wrote a Why Notre Dame you are probs good.
ftfy
but yeah, I'd imagine they would prefer nothing than reading a clear stretch

Haha. Yeah definitely a generic teaser. There's probably some kind of drinking game for these kinds of emails / letters.

I wrote a "Why Notre Dame?" essay, but I can't think of a topic to write about for the DKL essay. I'm a URM, but I don't have anything to write about. I think I'm just not going to do it.

Mine as well (err, yesterday's date, not today's), but the status still just says "complete," as it has since 10/27. Any insights into what that might mean?

Mine changed today. ND usually gives out online acceptances/decision made notifications around this time (+/- 10 days or so)

Just checked the complete statues and my date changed as well back on the 21st.

I would be shocked if it would be under 10 days or even two weeks. I'm calling that the first decisions roll out in two and a half weeks.

Haha, sry. "Officially"
If it was early Nov, I think it would make since that it changed dates on the status date last week. It seems to change a couple weeks or so after submitting.

I submitted in September, it was complete on September 20th and had two date changes in November. On November 17th and 20th.

Ok, so that sounds similar to my application process..., except that I submitted early Oct and my changes to status date were later in Oct

Mine still says 11/21. That's when it was first received.

I would imagine a week at the minimum, but who knows, anything is possible

According to myLSN the first wave of decisions were sent out in the second week of December last year by snail mail. I'm still not UR, but my app complete date changed to 12/5.
