Long time lurker checking in as well!

Anyone have any insight as to whether or not it matters if you have or haven't interviewed? I know someone posted about this, but it wasn't clear.

I've talked to like 5 people who are currently at HLS who got in off the WL - some had interviewed before hearing about the WL, others after. One guy said he thought it was better to NOT have had an interview because if you had had one, they weren't too convinced.

Any thoughts?

Did you get an email back confirming they received your LOCI?

To summarize all of the info I've seen in terms of chances:

1. Pre-waitlist JS1 > no pre-waitlist JS1
2. Post-waitlist JS1 > pre-waitlist JS1

Also some pre-waitlist JS1s seemed to hear first (though some also heard in August so it doesn't necessarily mean anything)

So essentially its ideal to interview in the next few months. But at this point, nobody has had a post WL JS1, so we can't really make any deductions for us...

Does anyone have a read on whether getting accepted to Stanford would be an LOCI-worthy update? S is a great option of course but I have some ties to Boston and have wanted to attend H since I was a kid so I'm struggling with letting go of that dream while it's still a possibility. Appreciate any advice I could get.

I would be very careful how you word this. If you tell them you got into Stanford, they might say "so go there".
I read somewhere that you don't want to do this at all. They know your stats and know where you're likely to get in. You're obviously a very competitive candidate since they put you on the waitlist. I would however mention that you'd choose them over any current or forseeable offers and that they are your top choice.

Thanks for the advice! I'll hold off on mentioning Stanford and will let the chips fall where they may.

If you get an offer off the wait list is it binding? The email was worded very very strongly about only accepting a spot if you're 100% ok with taking it on the spot :?

Binding? Not technically. But if you aren't 100% certain (after May 1) that you'd jump ship given the chance, there's no reason to ride the list.

Agree that I don't think it's binding, but it seemed clear that they would ask you to make a decision before seeing your financial aid package. So that's just something to consider as well.

I don't think you will have to make a decision on the spot, but I'm guessing they'll only give a few days.

ETA: what I mean is, that if you are not sure you would take Harvard's offer before knowing your financial aid, that's just something to think about as well.

Comments like these make me happy I spend so much time lurking on TLS, even though the vast majority of comments just make me more anxious and paranoid.

Checking in, I applied in January, so I'm going to keep telling myself that was the reason I was WL'd. Wishful thinking, I know, but that's what the waitlist is all about.

For those who sent in their LOCI, did anyone get an email saying they've received it?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
