When does Emory start to review apps? I remember someone ITT said it was lie February or something? Anyone confirm?

There was this a while earlier, and is generally in line with LSN and last year's applicant thread.

I said, "Hopefully I hear back a little sooner than that!" but apparently they didn't think that was funny....
Emory is losing points.

Sure, that is probably the weakest question I could personally have since that data isnt widely distributed, but it seems consistent with everything I have seen so far. I would have to defer to kfree's expertise on this one since he/she/xir has been in the classroom setting and can directly compare the classes, but nothing in kfree's post seems untrue to me. The only person I know who got in from the waitlist got a call the first day of classes iirc. He said he was in class at GA State when he got the call.

I wouldnt worry about it. We admit based on formula. If you are at or above either lsat or gpa median then you are in. We dont start making decisions until like Feb though, so itll be awhile.TheProdigal wrote:And application is in. Now the waiting.

This begs a question -- are scholarship offers also formula-based?cecrum wrote:I wouldnt worry about it. We admit based on formula. If you are at or above either lsat or gpa median then you are in. Like all other law schools, Emory gives merit aid to students who they think will most contribute to the community. High stats equal high money.TheProdigal wrote:This begs a question -- are scholarship offers also formula-based?cecrum wrote:I wouldnt worry about it. We admit based on formula. I was previously a paralegal in my home state, so I may return to the same firm to work as a summer associate, but I am not sure yet. Job applications just opened for 1Ls on December 1st though, so I do not know any 1L that is sure of their summer employment yet. We start OCIs in March!jlaw20161 wrote:Thanks for checking in! While the formulas are important, I know Emory takes a holistic view when reviewing applications and scholarships. In my experience, better numbers meant for better scholarships, but I found Emory to be very generous!TheProdigal wrote:This begs a question -- are scholarship offers also formula-based?cecrum wrote:I wouldnt worry about it. Re: Emory Law c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I have been told that they "take letters of recommendation from Emory faculty very seriously." I think they are a little more lenient on scholarship and accepting from the waitlist, but we accept 100% based on hard numbers. Get the median LSAT OR GPA and youre in, dont and maybe you can snag the waitlist. I'm sure there are exceptions, I just havent seen them.cheeseee wrote:cecrum wrote:Hey all, Im an undergrad at Emory at the moment, applying for the next cycle. A cursory glance at the LSN graph shows this to be patently false.cecrum wrote:I have been told that they "take letters of recommendation from Emory faculty very seriously." Are you looking at the same graph as I am? Do you see the solid green and yellow lines on the graph? Maybe I oversimplified for people under a 3.0 for GPA, but patently false? I've never seen a graph that is as clear cut as Emory's. But lets rephrase it then: everyone who gets in hits one of the medians with no exception. Some people (a minority) do hit a median but are waitlisted (mostly for reverse-splitters and those with lower than a 3.0). Is that a better description?splitterfromhell wrote:A cursory glance at the LSN graph shows this to be patently false.cecrum wrote:I have been told that they "take letters of recommendation from Emory faculty very seriously." Yep. Lots of yellow at and above both medians.cecrum wrote:Are you looking at the same graph as I am? Do you see the solid green and yellow lines on the graph? Well I apologize, I was doing a simple description and took a false contrapositive. If in then median =/= if median then in (though it does for a majority)splitterfromhell wrote:Yep. PM me your stats. I have a below median LSAT but a high GPA. So when you say "or", do I have a shot?
