their median has been out for months so we know that it held but i was talking about their 25th.. 2012: 161 2013: 157 2014: 158 i would call the four point drop between 2012 and 2013 pretty drastic regardless of whether or not it affected the median. so i don't think you can really say that their numbers are in any way immune from the affects of the drop in applicants.bdb90 wrote:Considering Emory has held an LSAT median of 165 throughout the entirety of the downturn in applications, I don't think Emory will see much of a drop in numbers, if one at all.

I think that we could both agree that Emory is clearly more immune than UGA, considering the fact that Emory and UGA had the same median LSAT for the entering class in fall 2011 and now UGA's median is 162. It is interesting that Emory's 25th is the same as UGA's, at least last year, but the reason that I don't see Emory's drop in 25th as big of a deal as UGA's is because of the fact that Emory obviously does not admit very many candidates at that LSAT range, since their median has not dropped.Maplesyrup wrote:their median has been out for months so we know that it held but i was talking about their 25th.. 2012: 161 2013: 157 2014: 158 i would call the four point drop between 2012 and 2013 pretty drastic regardless of whether or not it affected the median. so i don't think you can really say that their numbers are in any way immune from the affects of the drop in applicants.bdb90 wrote:Considering Emory has held an LSAT median of 165 throughout the entirety of the downturn in applications, I don't think Emory will see much of a drop in numbers, if one at all.
we know that at least 1 in 4 matriculants is at or below that lsat range.bdb90 wrote:I think that we could both agree that Emory is clearly more immune than UGA, considering the fact that Emory and UGA had the same median LSAT for the entering class in fall 2011 and now UGA's median is 162. This sort of data may actually be available starting with next year's 509s. See: This ABA Memo.Maplesyrup wrote:we know that at least 1 in 4 matriculants is at or below that lsat range.bdb90 wrote:I think that we could both agree that Emory is clearly more immune than UGA, considering the fact that Emory and UGA had the same median LSAT for the entering class in fall 2011 and now UGA's median is 162. 166 166 166 166 166 165 165 165 165 165 165 158 158 158 158 120 120 120 120 120
in the distribution above emory could have 45% of its class at and below the 25th percentile in order to maximize revenue by charging reverse splitters close to sticker price while still maintaining a 165 median.
it would make sense for uga to do the same thing. and since emory has a larger class size than uga, it is more likely than not that they actually have more students with a lsat score of equal to or less than 158 than uga.
I bet Emory will see a drop in their ranking soon. They should keep their bar passage rates up.bdb90 wrote:I think that we could both agree that Emory is clearly more immune than UGA, considering the fact that Emory and UGA had the same median LSAT for the entering class in fall 2011 and now UGA's median is 162. the change in how school funded jobs are reported will also have an affect on this.OLitch wrote:I bet Emory will see a drop in their ranking soon.
