Same, got the call on 11/25... been checking the mail every 5 seconds. So excited to see that acceptance letter in writing and HOPEFULLY it will have some scholarship money. I'm shocked they accepted me in the first place, $$ would be icing on the cake.

It came to my house on 11/30, so it took a bit of time! Don't fret! And don't worry, I was in the same boat as you. I didn't think anywhere wanted me, let alone scholarship money! Keep your head up!

How long after you got the phone call did you get the packet with scholarship information? This Tuesday will be two weeks since I got the call so I'm wondering if anyone can clarify the timeline.

Got the mail. 15k in first year and 10 for the second. More questions though. Does ASU offer in state residency if you meet certain criteria after the first year? Also, is it pretty normal to get a scholarship only for the first two years? Do they negotiate more later or are you just kind of on your own in that third year?

I believe ASU takes 12 months to become a resident and cutting all ties to any other state.cbowen11 wrote:Got the mail. 15k in first year and 10 for the second. More questions though. It looks pretty strict compared to other universities

Re: ASU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
1) You can go through the residency process. Many students will get it after being denied and appealing the decision (I am currently still waiting to hear back). I think its about an 80% success rate right now. At the start of your 1L year there will be a large presentation by the deans of the college on how to be successful in the residency process.cbowen11 wrote:Got the mail. 15k in first year and 10 for the second. 2) It is common to get money for just the first two years. Remember that in state is 27k which is a great deal even if you are paying sticker compared to many other schools.
3) Some school will renegotiate later but I have not heard of anyone at ASU getting more money after their first year. We have a lot of students transfer in and a few transfer out.

Re: ASU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Accepted via phone call from the dean on November 24th. Received my admissions packet today (December 7th). Received a $15,000 scholarship for my first year, which was kind of surprising to me considering my LSAT and GPA were both slightly below the 50th percentile for ASU admits last year. Not complaining.

Separate envelope marked "Scholarship".heyimliz wrote:Thanks! Was the scholarship information in the packet? Was in state so knowledge on residency is limited. Though, from what I recall it is considered difficult to get residency in AZ. I would ask admissions and maybe check this thread out http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... y#p2537084. If I had to guess I would say I doubt it for 1L unless you've already been in AZ for a little.
Scholarships are usually front loaded at ASU, so pretty typical. I would try to negotiate prior to attendance. If you applied to UofA they are a fairly good school to try to use as leverage (of course a higher ranking school will have pull too). That being said, there are scholarships throughout the academic year for $1k here and there for papers and what have you ... I really don't think anyone ever even went for those. Negotiations might be easier now that Dean Soto left (she was a hard bargain).

Thanks for clarifying! I didn't get any money then, but with my numbers I'm surprised they even accepted me. Still likely where I will be heading in the fall.

Got in with 45k total, but I was accepted to Arizona with a full ride. Any chance I can negotiate some extra money from ASU?

Checking in. I applied at the end of October and got accepted at end of November. Received a $25K scholly.
BTW, do any of you guys intend to study in advance for our 1L courses so that our burden can be lightened then?
