Wow I did not even realize that. Even happier about going into law now.slippin_jimmy wrote:U mean Hermione IS a damn good lawyer:Hildegard15 wrote:THIS. The SPEW stuff was so amazing and unfortunately at 13-14 years old I didn't realize it. She was a total advocate. I aspire to be a combination of Leslie Knope, Hermione, and Xena in everything I do.barley wrote:
And on top of being smart, so brave and loyal and most importantly not afraid to stand up against injustice whenever she saw it. I never thought much of S.P.E.W. when I first read the books, but her ability to empathize with the house elves and stand up for them when everyone else thought she was crazy for caring.... She'd make a damn good lawyer!
"Meanwhile, J.K. said that Hermione, Ron's wife, is "pretty high up" in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, despite the fact that she laughed at the idea of becoming a lawyer in the scene with Scrimgeour in Deathly Hallows."

I'm already practicing, but if you have questions about law school, networking, or whatever, feel free to PM me. I was lucky to find a female mentor during law school and I found that to be extremely helpful, so I thought I would pay it forward.
Congrats and good luck with law school!

Barley, this thread was such a great idea! Checking in
When I first made an account on TLS, I was hesitant to openly identify as female since I know male and female users are treated differently online (see: reddit), and I wanted to see this firsthand.

Hi everyone! This forum is a great idea! I'm a rising 2L at Michigan and am happy to answer any questions you might have about the application process or law school in general.

Flattered that Lisbeth Salander was even in the poll (I think she has the least amount of mainstream appeal of everyone on that list). She didn't fundamentally shape who I am today, but she's certainly one of the most memorable characters I've encountered in literature. Mulan's my favorite Disney princess, thoughHildegard15 wrote:Totally derailing this away from law school, but I feel so grateful to have grown up with a character like Hermione. She was the smartest and knew it, and her looks were never made an important part of the story. Of course, I picked Xena in the poll since I think she helped to fundamentally shape who I am today.barley wrote:Love that Hermione is killin' it in the poll. It was so hard for me not to make every option a Harry Potter character.
