Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Quick question, Ive been lurking through the 2018 thread but Im hoping someone will clear this up.
Does Berkeley offer merit aid outright or do they usually just usually do it through the scholly matching program? Also, would they match $$$$ from Cornell? Thanks guys!

My GPA pretty much rules me out at Berkeley too. Whether I apply or not will come down to my retake score.benwyatt wrote:I might still apply UCLA just because I have the waiver, but my GPA basically rules out any chance at Berkeley and if I don't apply there, it takes my total cost of application below $1000 which would be really nice.basedvulpes wrote:I've been considering this too. Was planning to apply to Berk and UCLA but I'm becoming less enthusiastic about the west coast.benwyatt wrote:I think I've officially decided to take Berkeley off my list.

Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm confused about the Berkeley-specific PS. I have no idea how I can add in a "Why Berkeley" portion without detracting from the rest of my PS. It seems like everyone says to do your Why Berkeley in your PS, though. Is it enough for my PS to be 4 pages, showing I obviously crafted it to Berkeley's standards, and then sending in a Why essay in addition?urbanist11 wrote:Berkeley seems to really care about it so if you apply I would certainly do itbasedvulpes wrote:I would totally be willing to tailor my PS to a school I'm super hyped on, but I'm not sure if there's any value in doing it for a school that I'm not even enthusiastic about, and then I question whether i should even apply at all.benwyatt wrote:I'm undecided on the west coast, but I'm also not really interested in tailoring my PS to Berkeley either.urbanist11 wrote:Benwyatt someone with your #s got in last cycle http://lawschoolnumbers.com/jfosplit granted it's just one data point. Not wanting to be on the west coast is certainly a valid reason not to apply though.
I know that sounds lazy.
Time to make a pros and cons list.
also to echo the $80 you spend to apply is such a small amount in the larger scheme

Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
A big part of why Berkeley is my top pick is location. I did the whole move across the country and explore a new place thing after ugrad. I'm ready to be somewhere I actually want to be. I yearn to be out West again. It's so annoying that the East coast has so many more T14 options (and T1 options, really).Hildegard15 wrote:West Coast best coast! Of course, I say that, but there is an 85% chance that I will end up at law school on the Eastern half of the country. Since only 2 out of the Top 14 are out West.
