Waitlisted via snail mail. Complete 11/30. Reverse splitter, so this is a better outcome than I expected since I know they want to keep their medians up for the rankings.

According to the Dean it will be top 20. Even if it is. The question is, will it stay there. They offered a lot of money to the first classes. However they're employment numbers are fading already. What's to say that they don't continue to drop, and by the time you graduate they're in Hastings' position.rion91 wrote:what do you think UCI will rank in USNWR? how about this next employment rate figure?

They seem to be offering a lot of money to this year's class as well, their employment info on LST is a also a little concerningIagreetotheseterms wrote:According to the Dean it will be top 20. What's to say they don't come back with a strong showing and maintain a top 25 position? At this point it's all speculation and UCI might not be the best choice for someone who is too worried about rank. This is not a personal jab at anyone but why not have this conversation in the choosing a law school forum and let this section be about the admissions process.Iagreetotheseterms wrote:According to the Dean it will be top 20. Under Review 12/12/14
Waitlisted on 1/8/15 (Pretty Sure it Took so Long because of the Holidays)
LOCI sent 1/14/15
LOCI reply received 1/14/15 (Yes they replied to my LOCI same day)
LSAT was low....real low
GPA 3.75
Feel like my app had a bunch of other factors that helped me out though
3.75??? Thats not low for them. I believe they have maintained 75 percentile GPAs of around 3.7 each year, including the most recent entering class...

At an academic event last year, I spoke with Sean O'Connor, who is the CEO & president of stratus prep, about his thoughts on UC Irvine. He was confident that they could get a T25 spot most likely, probably T30. But thats just one prep company CEO...
There was a lot of negative criticism that UCI received in major media sources in South California when this idea was in both the planning stages as well as when the school originally opened its to applicants doors. It's interesting to see how the negative media coverage has dwindled down in recent years as positive elements come into light at the school. I think it's important to notice the strides that UCI has made since opening. For example, bar passage rates, faculty and admission stats. I know that much of the admissions stats were because of scholly$. However, once the school gets ranked that won't be as significant of a contributing factor, assuming it gets a T25/T20 ranking this year.
But I'm Canadian. I know nothing.

I have heard that most American Schools, especially in the UC system are friendly to..."foreigners." Is this true of UC I as well?
Well, I'm international. I got in before Christmas and received a pretty hefty merit-based scholarship a week or so afterwards!

My relevant stats are as follows:
LSAT, 168
GPA, Superior (International students receive rankings)
and average softs
UCI is offering me 45k the first year and said that I can get that amount renewed for my second and third year if I maintain good academic standing and a minimum GPA of 2.5. I'm just a little confused as I'm not familiar with how this works but is that standard for domestic students as well?
I've heard a lot of rumors about the chances international students have in getting admitted into American law schools. Some say exactly what you've been told but some say that we have more disadvantages when it comes to JD admissions because the market is already supersaturated with foreigners. Who really knows? I can only speak with confidence as to my case with UCI - they don't seem very interested in milking me for money.

That's the standard. Congrats on your acceptance and $$$. It's interesting how you don't have a numerical GPAcarolkpark wrote: ...if I maintain good academic standing and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
