So I mustered up the courage to check....IN!!
Via status check and confirmed via email. Odd timing...
Anyone else seriously considering Davis? This is likely my top choice.

On the admitted students website it says "Your 2015-2016 financial aid award will be available for you to view on-line beginning April 1." I suppose that doesn't rule out being told via email earlier, though. April 1st seems like a very late time in the cycle to wait.dustybottoms7 wrote:anyone hear anything about schollys yet?

Has anyone who submitted a FAFSA gotten any info from the Fin Aid office? I submitted FAFSA on Sunday, and was notified by the government on Tuesday that my data has been sent to my schools. Anybody have any info from last year's cycle?

Also, I'm SHOCKED at how fast the turnaround is for you guys. Last year, it took FOREVER to get responses. I think the school saw the error in its ways and decided to adjust the admission process.
Anyways, best of luck in the application process.
I'm strongly considering Davis. Right now my biggest concern is that it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. Any comments on how you feel that affects job prospects and/or interships/externships?
Thanks!!

Also, according to LSN, Davis is casually giving out about 1 or 2 decisions a day. Although I realize not everyone uses LSN, THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING. ACCEPT US DAVIS!!!!!!!

Are there any UCD alumni to take questions from us prospectives.
I'm specifically interested in the political atmosphere, it seems like a Social Justice focused school. I've already received two race based mailings from the school; as I am a "minority". I really don't want to attend a school with a stifling pc orthodoxy.
Also could they hurry up with those scholarship offers.

Heyyyyyy. Current UC Davis law student here. I don't think you should be afraid of it being in the "middle of nowhere". I, too, was slightly concerned about that. UC Davis still has strong ties to the bay area. I got two summer internship offers today for the bay area. People in NorCal and SoCal view UC Davis as a solid law school. It's located close enough to the Bay and Sacramento. It's only 20 minutes from Sac and 1 hour and 15 minutes from SF. For example, UC Davis students participate in a Public Interest/Public Sector Day that takes place in SF. If anything, being in the middle of nowhere is a blessing in disguise. It's easyyyyy to study your butt of here. None of those city activities to distract you.Drowninmyowntears wrote:yeslekkkk wrote:Hey everyone! I'm currently a 1L at UC Davis. Q for current/past students in similar vein: the employment numbers are pretty decent (waaaay better than Hastings) but are most of those jobs in Sacramento/Central valley rather than SF? I love a lot of things about the school, but I too am concerned about it's location. Not being able to network in a small town and instead having to rely on alumna network/school rep makes me anxious. How hard is it to land jobs in SF proper? Word on the street is that at Hastings you reaaaally need to in top 20% of the class in order to have a shot at the best jobs and top 50% to have hope of ANY job, which is so depressing! Is there a similar unwritten rule at Davis? How well do you have to preform in order to get big city success? Davis def seems way more laid back and less cutthroat, but any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

This is definitely a question for a 3L or alumnus.Cpt Zapp Brannigan wrote:Q for current/past students in similar vein: the employment numbers are pretty decent (waaaay better than Hastings) but are most of those jobs in Sacramento/Central valley rather than SF? I'm not sure where you need to be in the class for jobs. It seems you probably need to be in top 20% still. I think the only schools where you can be remotely secure in California is Stanford and Berkeley (shocker, I know).
Davis provides some decent opportunities though. SF is a way bigger legal market and Sac is more insular. Most of the opportunities that we have access to seem to be in the Bay area, mainly Oakland, SF, and Silicon Valley. Maybe someone else can weigh in though. Honestly, you don't have much time to network while you're in law school because you need to be studying a lot. Being in SF isn't really an advantage. Davis is doing better than Hastings right now. I think there can be personal reasons to choose Hastings over Davis, but I don't know why you would. Also, the Davis community is so much more chill. It's also way cheaper to live in Davis.

That need access application was ridiculous.
