My major is biomedical engineering, so I'm thinking about possibly touching on that, but I wanted to see if anyone else had written it/what they wrote about?
Thanks!

To me, it seemed as if they were looking for people who had experience in higher academic settings ie. published research?lilith66 wrote:Left mine blank as wellblueberrycrumble wrote:I just left mine blank.tonysoprano wrote:What are everyone's thoughts on the "Programmatic Contribution" section where they ask "if you believe you can make a distinctive contribution to a specific UCLA School of Law Specialization, Academic Program, Joint Degree, Law Review/Journal, or research in a particular subject area?"

Finally went complete. Applied mid September. I guess they were waiting for my Sept LSAT score? But other schools that have status checkers seem like they went complete without my Sept score.

Hmm, yeah, I'm wondering about this too. I'll be including a 'Why UCLA' essay that will include the organization(s) that interest me and I would make a contribution toward, which is why I hesitate to fill out the 'Programmatic Contribution' section.

Off topic but has anyone received an email offering a "fast track" admission process? Anyone done this?

I hate the lack of status checker.

Why does UCLA YP/discriminate so hard against qualified black applicants? When I plug my numbers into mylsn, the results suggest that a white candidate with my numbers is more likely to get in.

yeah, yeah, yeah, I know about all that. What is puzzling is that lower scoring blacks were accepted at a higher rate than 170+ blacks. Tbf, there are very few data.p89sean16 wrote:maybe cuz of this?LSATneurotic wrote:Why does UCLA YP/discriminate so hard against qualified black applicants? Apparently they don't buy Sanders' theory, because they seem to practice the exact opposite.

Should I apply to UCLA? I applied two years ago and got WL'ed. Would you guys be cool with being my friends?

First off, I am a huge fan of your b.o.w. Keep it up. To answer your question: no. Considering your alleged history of stalking, substance abuse, and overall questionable decision making, I do not feel comfortable pursuing a friendship at this time.DaRascal wrote:Should I apply to UCLA? However if you post the email you sent to ND while you were on your "liquid courage train", I might reconsider.

Re: UCLA School of Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I have 4 LORs and am not sure which to submit since UCLA only accepts 2, so any advice would be appreciated.
I have two from professors, one from an adviser/coach to the organization I was president of for a few years which is probably my best one, and heavily related to my PS, and the 4th is from an employer from my on-campus job. I'm thinking either (1) both professors or (2) one professor and the adviser/coach.
what do you all think?

Both professors will probably carry the most weight. You must have at least one. I would do both.hearsay77 wrote:I have 4 LORs and am not sure which to submit since UCLA only accepts 2, so any advice would be appreciated.

If you know your coach LOR is the best, I would submit that as your second one. A strong, personalized LOR is more memorable and impactful than an average LOR regardless of who wrote it (unless it's the POTUS or something).Winston1984 wrote:Both professors will probably carry the most weight. Not really sure where you are getting this. It's the consensus that academic LORs carry significantly more weight. They want to see that you can thrive in an academic environment. Most law schools even flat out state it should come from someone that can attest to your academic work. With the exception of someone who has been out of school for a very long time, then it becomes appropriate for it to come from a supervisor.andy261 wrote:If you know your coach LOR is the best, I would submit that as your second one. For the folks who have been accepted & notified via phone: did the email telling you that your file was complete note that "Admission decisions will be sent through email"?
