Applied ED and emailed their Admissions yesterday. They said that my app has been under preliminary review since Dec 7. Seems like all we can do now is to wait

I applied ED. Mine still says complete but there's been a date change twice now. The latest is December 3. When they told you you were under preliminary review...did your status checker change or does it still say "complete" for you as well?

Is a rothman invite anything special? I got one but my numbers are median so I'm assuming they send it to everyone?

Wait were you accepted? Are you ED?calawgrl wrote:Is a rothman invite anything special? I got one but my numbers are median so I'm assuming they send it to everyone?
I'm pretty sure Rothman is their full-tuition scholarship. It's like a Dillard at UVA.

Full text of email I received. Pretty sure it is not an invite to apply to Rothman but just some info about the program designed to entice us to apply to USC law in general:
From what I can see, invitations to apply to Rothman are extended after application:USC Law wrote: The decision to attend law school is significant and financial support is an important aspect of that decision. Did you know that nearly all students (99%) of the 2014 entering class for University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law received some form of aid? And the average scholarship award was $30,000/year!
USC Gould offers several scholarship opportunities and our premiere scholarship is the Frank Rothman Scholars Program. Based on information from the LSAC's Candidate Referral Service (CRS), we believe you may be a strong candidate for admission and a prime candidate for our Frank Rothman Scholars Program.
The benefits of being a Rothman Scholar are quite extraordinary:
Full-tuition scholarship guaranteed for 3 years (estimated at $172,521)
$2,000 stipend each year for 3 years
Paid 1L summer fellowship at one of the best law firms - work at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Los Angeles for the summer following the first year of law school
Frank Rothman Scholars are selected entirely on the basis of merit. Selection criteria include strong undergraduate record, LSAT score, and highly significant achievement. Past recipients have gone on to become successful corporate and public interest lawyers, business entrepreneurs, and judicial clerks. To learn more about the Frank Rothman Scholars application process, click here.
Additionally, USC Gould offers other scholarship opportunities to many of our most promising students. And, you do not need to do anything to apply for them. Various scholarships will be offered to students which may include:
50%, 75% or full tuition scholarship guaranteed for 3 years
Dedicated faculty mentor to work with you on a one-to-one level
Guaranteed 1L summer placement - companies include entertainment, technology, business firms and public service organizations
Funding to attend an academic related conference or workshop based on your area of interest
Dean or high profile alumni engagement - dinner and salon conversation at the home of the Dean or an alumni

I think they're kind of being intentionally tricky...but I'd stick to working off the assumption that receiving the email doesn't mean much in terms of chances for the scholly.calawgrl wrote:Yes this, but I'm confused bc at the top it literally says "Frank Rothman Scholars Application Invitation "lc39 wrote:Full text of email I received. Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Received an email from USC today inviting me to apply and specifically to apply for the Frank Rothman Scholarship. Anybody know anything about this? Chances with a 168, a 3.63 and very strong softs? I'm really impressed by the info included in the email, and I think I'm going to go ahead and apply to USC since they seem to be pretty generous and it's hard to pass up a shot for a full ride at a T20.
