Checking in! Love this place. A month ago I'd hoped to submit this week but I was too slow to ask for LORs. Good luck to everyone who has or is about to--I'm feeling very envious right about now.

Dude (dudette?) Welcome! And good luck How could they say no with a username like yours?theramblingfool wrote:Checking in. Will be applying to UChicago (just some final tweaks with the Personal Statement and I'll be submitting today or tomorrow). Unfortunately, my numbers make me very borderline, but I'm a reasonably interesting candidate and UChicago is my first choice, so I'll be applying anyway.

Congrats to all of you that have submitted already, it's mighty impressive being ready so early. I was planning on applying at the beginning of October and thought that was pretty good for timing, but now it feels like that's way too late!

Submitted! Does anyone know if we get an email for app received? I submitted yesterday but nothing from Chicago yet. Is there somewhere online we can check the status?

An adcomm told me they don't request the report/go complete/etc. until September 1, so I assume that's when status checkers and everything would go outyot11 wrote:Submitted! Calm down it is literally AUGUST. You'll probably get a status checker email in the next couple weeksyot11 wrote:Submitted! Does anyone know if we get an email for app received? I submitted yesterday but nothing from Chicago yet. Is there somewhere online we can check the status?

I think you should include graduation honors/distinctions in that part. I'm including merit-based scholarships I received for my work in college (I received scholarships for my senior year bc of work in my major) but not scholarships I received when I got into college. Partly because I don't remember them.hereisonehand wrote:Would you include the fact that you graduated with honors/distinction here, and/or merit-based scholarships? Greetings fell applicants! I didn't see this posted et, but if anyone takes part in be ALS Ice Bucket challenge and emails the respective admissions rep you will recieve a fee waiver. I just called and verified and this from thee Chicago twitter page:
@UChicagoLawApps: Class of 2018-- take the challenge & email akperry@uchicago.edu with proof in 48 hrs. Fee waivers are up for grabs! --LinkRemoved--

Lol, seriously? I suppose I'd rather donate to ALS than the University of Chicago. This doesn't exactly save money, though, unless you want to risk an auto-ding for only doing the ice bucket part.MadwomanintheAttic wrote:Greetings fell applicants! Looks like when current students did it they both dumped ice water on their heads and pledged ALS donations. But isn't the original challenge to do one or the other? Did Admissions tell you whether fee waiver hopefuls needed to do both or could do as the original challenge and pick one? (Forecast for tomorrow here: 60 and rainy.)

I think as the challenge has progressed you're now viewed as a jerk if you only dump the ice water on your head (or it looks like you just want to dump ice-water on yourself, which is a bit weird). Everyone I know who has done it also donates like $15 or $20 along with the ice-water dump.everything_bagel wrote:Lol, seriously? I suppose I'd rather donate to ALS than the University of Chicago. So what should we do to let them know we are going to donate? Should we just tell UChi in the email the amount we've pledged or something?Toby Ziegler wrote:I think as the challenge has progressed you're now viewed as a jerk if you only dump the ice water on your head (or it looks like you just want to dump ice-water on yourself, which is a bit weird).
