Just following up guys: according to the FAQ (LinkRemoved) on CLS website:kevin0201 wrote:Damn... I did not know about this. Thanks for the infopsychmusic wrote:Columbia's killin' me here. Columbia requires two letters of recommendation to complete your application. We expect applicants currently in school or recently graduated (within two years of applying) to submit two academic letters from faculty who can provide insights about their candidacy. We suggest that applicants use their own best judgment when determining the appropriate number of letters of recommendation to submit.
Please be advised that, unless we are otherwise notified in response to Question 9.2 of the application, we will complete your application with two letters of recommendation.
If anyone was confused (as I was), this at least specifies that graduates within two years of applying do NOT need professional LORs.

To make life easy, I'm just gonna go ahead and believe that this applies to those who finished a graduate program in the last two years, not just to those who finished undergradtwitterati wrote:Just following up guys: according to the FAQ (LinkRemoved) on CLS website:kevin0201 wrote:Damn... Probably fair to conclude that this is a positive development for those above median, since the population they can draw from to maintain it is smaller than at 171.james.bungles wrote:medians released. 172 +1

Yeah. I have just over 1 year of WE now so I decided a professional LOR couldn't hurt. I need all the softs I can get especially since the LSAT median for C/O 2017 went +1 to 172psychmusic wrote:Thanks for the sleuthing. Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I don't think I'm doing NYU - feels kind of meh to go to the same school as I did my undergrad at. Also they haven't waived my fee yet. If they waive that then I'll apply, and then if I got money I'd probably talk myself into being excited again. But I don't have the 80 bucks or whatever to spare after this wave of apps just now.xylocarp wrote:I haven't gotten anything from them or NYU. have you gotten confirmation from NYU?ikethegremlin wrote:Anyone applied and received Status Checker/confirmation email yet? I know the common opinion on TLS is not to write a Why X essay for T6, but I do have a somewhat unique reason why I'd like to attend Columbia. Should I submit one as an optional essay?

Visited today (it's reeeal pretty y'all) and the adcomm said it was with doing one if you had an interesting reason, and fine otherwise, but not to write one if it's just the product of leafing through the catalog for 5 minutes. Dunno if that's the TLS CR but FWIW.nyanyanya wrote:Checking in!

So jealous as I probably won't have the chance to visit any school until actually attending one
