URM? I was accepted into GW with similar numbers to yours, but I applied early.
I would go to Howard if American is your only other choice.
yess that makes since, if I get accepted into GW should I go there full ticket price over 15k/yr tuition (including scholarship) at Howard?
I don't think anyone should go to GW without a substantial scholarship. Howard, no matter the price, is still very risky.
I'm currently admitted at GW but will most likely withdraw soon. I hope my seat goes to one of you (if that's how it works). As I'm sure all of you are aware, though, GW at sticker price is extremely costly. I'm guessing all applicants who are accepted off of the WL will have to pay sticker price in order to attend. I urge all of you to think again and again about attending GW at that cost.
Maybe I'm biased because my impression of GW this whole cycle has been pretty negative, which is a shame since they were one of my top choices early in the fall. First, they offered very little by way of merit scholarship money compared to peer schools. Second, they wouldn't negotiate with applicants until after the first seat deposit deadline (which was earlier for scholarship recipients), but implied that they would reconsider and increase offers after that date probably in order to induce applicants to deposit. Third, the increased offer was very minimal. Finally, my negotiations since have also been unsuccessful despite increased offers from GW's peers. To cap it all off, the correspondence has been very impersonal with what seems to automated messages sent from admissions. In their one meager attempt to add a personal touch to an e-mail in which they attempted to highlight why GW is better than the other schools I'm considering, they highlighted how GW graduates have been successful in finding employment in my home state of X, even though my home state is Y and I've never even been to X.
Just my two cents. Good luck to all of you. I hope you all make a decision that is best for yourselves.
